Good story, Those rhineharts were they for the HD's ? I did like the HD'S at idle, but under accereleration they had to much of a bark to them, may all the after maket slip on's will have this same type of bark, just don't want to spend the money and not be satisfied. I did listen to some sound clips but a little difficult to really tell coming out of a small speaker. May be the bark is because the V4's firing order don't know, but even the stock HD slip on's seem to me to have that car glass pipe sound and after a while they got on my nerves. I know my wife didn't like the sound at all so I put the stock venture muffs. back on. I will check out the khromewerks slip on's though.

Yep the rineharts are for HDs but anything that will fit a Road King will fit onto your RSV with the adapter mounting plates and P-Clamps.. I like the sound of them.. Took the bike out today for the first post winter run.. brr.. but man.. loved the sound.. nice bark hehe My neighbors are prolly saying "oh no.. summer is soon here "

Does an exhaust change affect the warranty?

I've been considering a change also but concerned about the warranty.

I have stock pipes and did the mod to drill out the baffle..

When I took it in to have the cruise control looked at.. (surges up and down +/- 5mph once set).. they balmed it on the fuel mix because I punched out the exhaust and charged me $100+ for 'adjusting the cruise'.. Still didn't fix my problem.

And of course it was already doing it before I punched the exhaust out so that was not the cause. Thanks, Keith

Hi Keith, the pipes you have on the bike should NOT affect the warranty.. I had HD pipes on my RSV when I was in the USA and required a lot of warranty work (my bike is a USA bike and lucky it broke down over there so warranty covered the fixes..)

I think that ALL the bikes will surge the cruise control around the +- 5 mph and that has a lot to do more with the riding conditions than anything else.. where you are on the power curve, hills, winds etc.. Shame on them for charging you like that..

I just purchased another set of new Road King slip ons to replace the other pair that got dropped from the shelf and 'badly dented' on their way down.. crap! Not bad though, $60 plus $40 shipping from USA to Canada works for me! Long haul road trips are nicer with a less than booming thunderous roar that the rineharts can put out..

Dang them ovals have deep sound.. love the sound coming off the throttle.. lol.. However, while doing my own sound videos with my rineharts, I found that the sound on the video differs a lot on how the video is produced, the environment, acoustics, microphone and video rendering itself will change how the pipes will sound on the sampler video..

None the less.. dang them ovals sound great ;)

The V&H Monster Ovals do sound great.

Anyone know what model# fits the RSV? Would they be for a RK and need the adapters too?

,,,, sound great.

Oh, but on the V&H, looking like closer to $800.

(Edit: Actually if I look down on the Youtube post, the owner answered the same questions:

"They are on right now for $662 part #1801-(should be #1801-311) fits 95-08 HD FLT/FLHT/FLHX"

I see same model (#?) on Amazon.com for $603 today. So, looks like they do need the RK adapters.

Well...in my opinion...they got to you. Like I've said, I've run several brands of mufflers and the Samson's were close to just being straight through and NONE of them caused any performance problems or problems with the cruise control. I think they just took you for $100.00. Besides, there is only one simple adjustment on the cruiser control..it is the freeplay...and it would take about 15 minutes to adjust. That would make their shop rates about $400.00 per hour.

Oh..and to answer your question...it really should not affect your warranty but with a dealer like yours, they would probably try to make that claim. Way back when, during the time that my bike was under warranty, I had it in a couple of times and the mufflers were never mentioned.

Yea thats what I figured.. found my receipt.. $105 for 1.5 hrs to diagnose/inspect cruise control and adjust all 5 cables.. Claims that the exhaust system has been 'butchered' altering the airflow and therefore affecting the cruise control. recommends clean the carbs and rejet.

First and only time I brought it there...

Thanks. I expect the surge when it is trying to climb uphill.. but this will even do it on a flat straightaway.. once it's starts it just keeps on doing it.. I end up having to just turn it off..

You might want to look see if your cables are binding as well.. if you look on the left side of the engine, under the tank, you'll see the cables going into a round gizmo.. a local dealer pinched the cables on my bike once and took a while to sort it out..

the surging.. check see where you are in rpm and speed if possible.. it could be just underpowered at that point.. I couldn't get mine to stay on today.. not sure why, I wasn't overly concerned about it right now.. but will have to dig into it soon..

To be fair to the dealer, I can see where they could have spend 1 1/2 hours trying to figure out what was causing it so what they charged you was probably not really unfair. I just think that they came up with the wrong cause and it should have been warranty.
