Wiring question

If you go to the tech library you can find the wiring diagrams Dingy did for the 1st gen. From that you can get the wire colors for the tail, brake and turn signal lights.

All the wires pass under the seat above the gas tank. You'll need to make a pigtail to go down near your hitch. To run the separate brake/turn signals you will need a 5 wire connector. I assume since your trailer has amber signals it has a five wire connector on it. You'll need to match that connector at a trailer supply place.

I recommend you use relays to control the trailer lights - powering them by a separate fused lead from the battery. This will make sure you don't overload the motorcycle circuits and prevent the load from interfering with the diagnostic functions on the CMS. I put all my relays in a project box from RadioShack, filled it with epoxy to protect them and placed it on top of the fender behind the seat, below the passenger back rest.
