I believe that somebody that is taking off on a 2-5k trip they will have better tire wear than someone doing the same mileage over several months with trips of 100 miles or less. Although you may not hear your tire breaking traction when you take off there is the traction issue versus just driving down the road at 60 mph. Stops and Starts = tire wear!! I think another factor in the deep south is our temp and here in Florida they use aggregate that has a lot of sea shells in it as well which is very abrasive. Edited October 27, 2011 by jrsain
