Hulign Posted March 2, 2011 #1 Posted March 2, 2011 After 8.5 years I sold my Vmax with the idea of buying a Venture. I came close to jumping on a few first gens and also a few second gens. Had a 99 all picked out but when I made the call they had sold it... guy emailed me after and said he had a 08 with 1100 miles on it. Checked the warranty date and held my breath for pics. Made the deposit that night. 10 days and the hole in my shop will be filled. She won't be as quick but I can always borrow my old max if I wanna go fast. I am anxious to see how the comfy people live. Thanks for all the ideas the forums have planted in the last few weeks...my wallet hates you all! Frank
Guest Posted March 2, 2011 #2 Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks for all the ideas the forums have planted in the last few weeks...my wallet hates you all! Frank Good luck with the new bike. And yes, these people here WILL make you spend money on it. If you thought keeping a mistress was expensive, just wait till you try putting some cheap knock-off part on the RSV. Only first class for this trollup. I do believe that the moderators of this site plant subliminal messages within this forum to get you to spend money aimlessly and then try and get you to leave the bike to them in your will. You are warned!!! :smile5:
Hulign Posted March 2, 2011 Author #5 Posted March 2, 2011 Thanks all for the well wishes and warnings.... but then again I had a Vmax. Not like it was stock in any way. So I am very used to dropping money on my bike. Just a different direction with more female companion support in my decisions. Hell she even emailed me every bike she could find within 800 miles. I think that last 300 mile ride on the back of the Vmax convinced her. Goodbye old friend
dingy Posted March 2, 2011 #6 Posted March 2, 2011 You might be able to put the motor out of the Max in the RSV and have the best of both worlds. And no fake air cooling fins. !! Gary
Yammer Dan Posted March 2, 2011 #7 Posted March 2, 2011 Its OK We will stop and wait on you while we are waiting on the other 2nd Gens!! Good Luck with it Hope you get a lot of miles & smiles out of it:clap2:
Hulign Posted March 3, 2011 Author #8 Posted March 3, 2011 Haha there has been talk of a venture bottom end with a Vmax top end. My Vmax dynoed over 134hp multiple years(was built on a good day?). The passing power/radials/killer brakes/sound will be missed. The seat and ride will not. Frank
wstuard Posted March 3, 2011 #9 Posted March 3, 2011 Unfortunately, the VMax engine will not work in the second gen frame. The exhaust ports are straight on the VMax and not angled like on the second gen; therefore, the exhaust would hit the frame. However, it has been done with some clever customization! Just put the cams and valve springs from the max into the second gen head and raise the rev limiter with a dyna3000 and that'll give the second gen a nice boost!
Hulign Posted March 4, 2011 Author #10 Posted March 4, 2011 Hmmm didn't know that...thanks for the info. Next year I hope to add a new Vmax to the garage... I think I will live till then. Frank
