mini-muffin Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We have lost the last of our WWI vets. The man died of natural causes at 110. The other two men mentioned didn't actually serve in WWI they were still in basic when it ended. According to the article the last WWI vet from Canada died last year in Feb. Pretty interesting article. Thought some would like to read it. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110228/ap_on_re_us/us_obit_last_wwi_veteran Margaret

Zane Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Flags will be flown at half mast tuesday the day Mr. Buckles will be laid to rest in Arlington. Margaret Mini, I assume that will be nationwide?
mini-muffin Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Yep that's nationwide. Not every day we lose the last person from a time and event that was this big. Of course the way things are going won't be much longer till all the WWII vets are gone as well. My grandfather is going on 94 this year and he's a WWII vet. Margaret
BoomerCPO Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 There was a proposal from a few Legislators to have this Hero lay in state at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington. Harry Reid shot that down quick. Boomer....With RESPECT to the last Hero of a great generation.
