Radio controls look funny

Recommended Posts

I may be the only one, but when looking at the radio controls, and how they are mounted they look out of place. Also I dont like having to move my hand to adjust the volume. I realise they are mounted so that they sit "flat" or "level" when the bike is upright but looking at other things like master cylinders being on a slope just makes the control look ot of place. So I am modifying my ounting bracket. Ill post pictures tomorrow.

Looks like this now

Remounted it and closed the "gap" I ground out untill it was in perfect line with the master cylinder angle

Welded and ground down

Now I used a small amount of JB Weld to put a skim coat on it to cover grind marks. It is drying now. By tomorrow I will have it sanded, primed, and painted. Ill post finished pics tomorrow. The fit is awesome now. Cannot wait to get this little mod done so my thumb will reach controls and it looks more in place.

All done and it is just what I wanted. Nice neat streamline look that does not "jump out" at you when you approach the bike.

I didn't understand what you were talking about until you posted the pictures. You did a good job but I think I like mine the way it is. The thing is, yes, it is not straight with the master cylinder but when I take the bike off the side stand and to the riding position, it is level with my eyesight as is. The way you have changed it, it would not be level when I am riding. I think that would drive me crazy.

Good job on the modification but it's just not for me.

I definetly appreciate the honesty. It it suprisingly more level with your sight while in riding position then you would think. I really like being able to reach the controls while maintaining contact with the grip. For me The appearence was driving me crazzy and I felt it to be slightly unsafe. Best part if I ever get rid of it a couple dollar bracket puts it right back where it was. I like mods I can "undo". :)

So when are ya going to be selling these modified brackets here?:whistling:

Boomer....who really likes that in-line look.:cool10:

The in-line look is soooo under rated :whistling: From the time I sit it up on the showroom floor, them controls bothered me. They just looked so out of place. I really like things to look neat, and fit in, and be user friendly. The Barons tach now fits in with the opposite side. It just tied the cockpit all together in my opinion. I am betting that with 272 views, mine will not be the only one that gets this little modifications.
