rod Posted November 18, 2007 #2 Posted November 18, 2007 I have taken many trips with groups of riders. Some people will not ride behind bikes with loud pipes and say it wears them out. Noise can have adverse affects for some people, don't bother me much tho. I have friends with quiet bikes that still wear ear plugs because the wind noise bothers them. I work as an electrician and am always around loud noises and am partly deaf because of it and that may be part of the reason it does not bother me. Rod
Marcarl Posted November 18, 2007 #3 Posted November 18, 2007 I enjoy a rumble, or occasionally a bark, but riding behind or even right in front of loud pipes? ain't gonna happen, I will ride elsewhere by myself.
cowpuc Posted November 18, 2007 #4 Posted November 18, 2007 I have rode thousands of miles with V-twins beside me.. sometimes I really like that rumble so I will ride on the right side of the twin and lean down so I can get an ear full.. Sometimes I like to be by myself so I just twist the happy grip on my venture and leave the pack behind me until I want more,, then I might pull over and take a break eating a granola bar while I wait for the other bikes to catch up...... Thats what makes riding this big ol yammie soooooooooo much fun,, I get to decide where I ride hahaha 'Puc
sarges46 Posted November 18, 2007 #5 Posted November 18, 2007 I can hear Marilyns vstar if I get too close. I just back off a little...it is tiring. Friends with the Indians....I either lead or stay well back as those two bikes are LOUD!
Older... Posted November 18, 2007 #6 Posted November 18, 2007 We ride almost every Saturday with others for a total round trip of 200-250 miles on average. Most often we ride with a VTX 1800, VTX 1300, Meanstreak, and an HD softail custom; Along with the wife's 750 Vulcan and my S40 Thumper. I find the different noises soothing and relaxing.
Guest Popeye Posted November 18, 2007 #7 Posted November 18, 2007 If I'm wearing my 3/4 helmet, the V-Twins don't bother me,. Actually, we don't ride alot with the loud bikes enough to get tired of them & sometimes they even sound good on 150 mile Poker Runs & such. Then there are the times for quiet rides in the country and trips around the lake & such + chatting on the intercom with nav & other riders on the CB. It's good to share the ride with more than your motor.
