dynodon Posted February 26, 2011 #1 Posted February 26, 2011 I have an '86 VR and it needs some TLC. I thought I had a great shop located, but he seems to busy to work on my old bike again. So are there any shops that people trust that work on the VR? I live near Peoria, IL but can go towards Quad Cities, Chicago, INdy, St. Louis. etc. But of course, finding one within short distance of Peoria would be best. Any help appreciated.

Don give me a call, I use a guy that I trust very much and has always taken great care of my bikes for reasonable money. I wouldn't take mine anyplace else And he is only about 10 miles from me out by Congerville
Dano Posted February 27, 2011 #3 Posted February 27, 2011 What are you looking at that needs fixed? If you can't find anyone I'm over here in Indy and could help if you need it.
dynodon Posted February 28, 2011 Author #4 Posted February 28, 2011 my '86 has an oil leak at the driveshaft output on the engine. Plus I need the carbs gone through, and a general check over. It doesn't have the punch it had a couple years ago. I used to do all my car repair, and some bike stuff, but not so much anymore. I appreciate the help, I will try Rick's friend and if that doesn't work out, I have no problem going to Indy, one of my favorite states and towns. Plus, Indiana is sending all their Democratic pols over here to spend money, so it is only fair that I spend some over there! LOL:stickpoke:

dynodon Posted February 28, 2011 Author #6 Posted February 28, 2011 Rick, Yep, that contrast for sure makes the VR seem slow as an iceberg before global warming! (ok, not quite that bad). Thanks for the tip on a mechanic, and even if my VR seems slower now that I have a GW in the stable, it still is a great bike!
