Are there any preferences on brands or where they come from?

I was thinking of ordering seals from All Balls Racing. They appear to be superior seals.

I think fork bushings are going to have to come from Yamaha. I have not found an aftermarket for them yet.

Any input will be appreciated.

This is something I came across on Ebay that seems interesting. It is a different design from the standard OEM seal.

I know they are for a VMax, but I checked seal & dust cover P/N & they are the same as my MKII forks. (This is incorrect I did not check the right year, these will not fit a 1st Gen Venture. I deleted link to them)

But there are similar seals that will fit a fist Gen, just not listed with dust caps.

I bought a set from a member here last fall after he told me they were OEM and they turned out not to be, so I really don't want to put them in. But I am thinking about these non - OEM's. Go figure.

I just ordered and received, my seals/bushing from Partshark. Yamaha factory parts, very fairly priced. When I was shopping I strongly considered the "super slippery" bushings from RaceTech, but three things stopped me.

1. They are VERY pricey.

2. I couldn't find anyone that had used them, so there was no way to know if they were worth the money.

3. And finally, RaceTech would not return my email request for information.

Good luck, as fork experience/information for the RSV seems to be as scarce as fish fur.

What fork oil are you going with and why? I'm not going to tackle my forks until the temp goes up into the 40's here and stays there. My garage heater leaves lots to be desired.

Well, I'm not sure and I'm not near my Bikes, but if i remember correct, the Fork Legs on the VR are 41mm in Diameter. The Vmax uses 40mm Fork Legs from '85 to '92 and 43mm from 93 to 2007.

One should check this with a Caliper before ordering a Kit for a 1GenVmax. to fit it on a Venture.

I did not check every year but here is what I found using Partshark.com for similarities & differences between fork oil seals & dust seals.

1983, 1988, 1989, 1990 & 1993 Ventures all use P/N 1NL-23145-00-00 for oil seal

26H-23144-00-00 is the dust seal used for the years 1983,1988 & 1989. I do not see the dust cap listing on partshark.com or the Part Fiche for 1990 - 1993 Ventures.

1985, 1989, 1990 & 1992 VMaxs all use P/N 1NL-23145-00-00 for oil seal

26H-23144-00-00 is the dust seal used for the years 1985, 1989, 1990 & 1992 for the Vmax.

Starting in 1993, the oil seal & dust seal are different for the VMax's from the 1st Gen Ventures

To me they are both the same from 1985 - 1989. But from 1990 -1993, I can not find the dust seal listing for the Ventures. Then in 1993, the VMax changed seals & dust caps.

The lower outer fork tube P/N changed in 1990 for the Ventures, so it is possible the dust seal is different.

Gary, they put those fugly gators on the 90's. I took them off and used dust caps (seals) from pre-90's.

Ok, I'm sorry that i caused some Disturbance here.....:crying::crying::crying:

I just checked the Listing on my Aftermarket Parts WHoleseller. He lists both, MKI and MKII with 40mm Oil Seals (40 x 52 x 8/10,5 mm).

Here's the Link http://www.motomike.eu/mike/category/10200000000/vehicle/31934/article/94038 and hit "Fahrzeuge" for the complete List of Bike this Part is used on.

Quit apologizing, it is a sign of weakness.

The 1st post I did in this thread was wrong too.

The seals I linked to were for a 99-07 VMax which won't work.

I tried to correct that post, but it looks like crap now.
