Most dealers wont touch an older bike nowadays. Either you pick up a shop manual and dig in yourself or check out some of the local independent shops in the area. Im sure the guys here can help you out as you progress through your rebuild. Good luck. and welcome to the site.

I can't speak for him working on older bikes but he did a valve check on my '05 for less than half the price of the local dealers. He also changed the spark plugs while he was in there. Brett's Motorsports in Tavares on U.S. 441.

You can do this. I got my 89 a year ago. I have worked on smaller bikes, my 89 was my first BIG bike.

Since I have had it, I have changed the tires front and rear, inspected brake pads, replaced fuse panel, in process of changing the spark plugs, and giving it an oil and filter change this weekend. Hell, it took me a month to get the side panels off. See if you can find a manual, and join this GREAT forum. You will be more confident each time to perform a task, and you will know it is done right because you did it.
