6pak Posted November 17, 2007 #1 Posted November 17, 2007 I would like to thank the moderator who saw fit to remove a rather tasteless joke from the forum sometime during the night or this morning. I have posted a few borderline jokes that I have received through my email, and have gone so far as to copy/paste into the thread and then delete after thinking and rereading during preview. :2cents:I guess that we all have to remember that what some may enjoy, others may not. I try not to insult anyone, or get too political. It seems as most of us do. However, once in a while everyone makes a mistake, and I guess that's what you guys are for. We have a good thing going here. Very enjoyable, friendly, and helpful. Maybe the post last night will wake a few of us up and help us remember that there is a time and a place for everything. Thanks again, Joe.
sarges46 Posted November 17, 2007 #3 Posted November 17, 2007 Agreed, I was glad to see it gone....not only for the bad taste it held but for the direction the post could have led us. It could have got ugly real fast.
Marcarl Posted November 17, 2007 #4 Posted November 17, 2007 I thought about starting this thread, but then thought to leave the thought lay but now that you brought the thought back up I will put in my thought on the issue. Boy, that's almost enough thought for one day already. I seen the post, posted my dislike, as well as some others who figured it needed a response. I also noticed it took our moderators some time to get to it, (I guess they all took time off simultaneously), but that made it interesting, for we got to see what would happen if our moderators did have a 'meeting' some where out of reach. We would take care of business the best we could, and I think we did very well, because that's the way we want it, and that's us.
Black Owl Posted November 17, 2007 #5 Posted November 17, 2007 Not sure about the rest, but I definately need some time off for my beauty sleep......... And it's really helping, Now, thanks to all who sent me E-mail and PM's concerning the thread. Had 9 alerts to the thread......... It;s that kind of attention to what is being posted that makes the moderator's job a lot easier.
6pak Posted November 17, 2007 Author #6 Posted November 17, 2007 :doh:Carl, now that I've thought about your thought, I think if I thought about thoughts as hard as you think about thoughts on a saturday morning, Just the thought about thinking about thoughts like that- well I thought I had avoided it, but I thought about aspirin too late, and now I think my thought about your thoughts have given me a headache.
Freebird Posted November 17, 2007 #7 Posted November 17, 2007 Yes, we have great members here. Mistakes are sometimes made in postings but the members here are very good about self-moderating. I was away from the computer all day yesterday while traveling home from Wisconsin. Got some PMs that I didn't see until this morning but one of the moderators had already taken care of it.
mini-muffin Posted November 17, 2007 #8 Posted November 17, 2007 Maybe we should get a nighttime moderator for these occasions. It's not the first time and last time it was in the evening as well. Margaret
pegscraper Posted November 17, 2007 #9 Posted November 17, 2007 Who are all of our moderators? I know of only one besides the owner. Do they mind speaking up?
Freebird Posted November 17, 2007 #10 Posted November 17, 2007 They are Squidley, Black Owl and Buddy Rich. Also Sofapilot but he has pretty much been out of contact for a while so I may add another one soon. To be honest, I've never felt that we need a lot of moderators as this group is exceptionally well mannered.
pegscraper Posted November 17, 2007 #11 Posted November 17, 2007 Here's a big thank you to our moderators, who once in a while have to do what must be a rather thankless job, even if for the most part we don't keep y'all very busy.
SilvrT Posted November 17, 2007 #13 Posted November 17, 2007 :doh:Carl, now that I've thought about your thought, I think if I thought about thoughts as hard as you think about thoughts on a saturday morning, Just the thought about thinking about thoughts like that- well I thought I had avoided it, but I thought about aspirin too late, and now I think my thought about your thoughts have given me a headache. geeeesh... after reading this I had to clean the spittle off my monitor and keyboard from saying "th" so much, not to mention now I seem to have a lisp...

Margaret That would probably be me Margaret...seeing I'm up at 3:30 every morning Was it funny? Tasteless for this site...we dont need to have jokes like that here
Older... Posted November 17, 2007 #16 Posted November 17, 2007 I posted that tasteless joke after hearing it at work. It was ok for the work place, but it was way over the top for a forum such as this. It will not happen again from this corner.
BuddyRich Posted November 17, 2007 #17 Posted November 17, 2007 What'd I miss, I didn't get to push the red button? Whoops, just remembered, don't want to push the red one, it launches the missles.. I think everyone crosses over that thin gray line buried in the sand every once in a while.
