phill12 Posted February 13, 2011 #1 Posted February 13, 2011 Bearthooth: when we where planning this Kalispel trip I bought a scenic by ways book. The first thing it said about the beartooth was this hwy is not for the faint of heart! This was a correct statement but what fun! Out of all the byways we traveled over the years this has been in the top 5. The road was real bumpie so the video is shaky. I hope you enjoy, and if Yellowstone is in your plans this is a must road. Hwy 212 out of the north east side of Yellowstone. http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Gx3pK6YR Phill
KarlS Posted February 13, 2011 #2 Posted February 13, 2011 Can't open this one either. This is what I get when I try. Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (mhtml) isn't associated with any program. Anyone know what I need to open these??? Thanks.

So far what I have found can only be opened with IE7 or above.
RedRider Posted February 13, 2011 #4 Posted February 13, 2011 Opens fine for me (Running IE7). Great video. Bothered me when you are going around corners 'cause I can't see thru them. Keep feeling like I'm going off the edge. Need to do that road. Thanks for posting. RR
straycatt Posted February 13, 2011 #5 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Karl, I use firefox as well and what I had to do is hold the left mouse button down and scroll over to highlight the entire link.....then go to edit and hit copy.....then paste that in either your open browser window or another window, enter and it opened. Fantastic video Phill. Even brought my heart rate up a little thinking about riding that. Edited February 13, 2011 by straycatt spelling faux pas, twice
SMSgt Posted February 13, 2011 #6 Posted February 13, 2011 Worked for me. I've ridden that road about 25 years ago. Lots of forest fires that year, Yellowstone ablaze. There was even fire around Red Lodge MT. Thanks.
utadventure Posted February 13, 2011 #7 Posted February 13, 2011 Beartooth is a great ride!! I rode in 2007 and 2009 and it will be a for sure ride for the International Rally in July!! The weather in spring and fall can be unpredicable and can turn to snow quickly. Dave
Condor Posted February 13, 2011 #8 Posted February 13, 2011 Didn't work for me. Maybe the site is overloaded with traffic??? So far 0 for 2.... In July will have lots of pics posted from the VR International, so be patient...
utadventure Posted February 13, 2011 #9 Posted February 13, 2011 Here are some pics from the Cody Roundup in 2009.
ragtop69gs Posted February 13, 2011 #10 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) We rode Beartooth Hwy. in 09 and again last summer. It's 1 ride everyone should do atleast once. Great ride and excellent scenery. If you don't mind dirt 2 tracks, take some of the side roads even higher up into the mountainside, some will get you another 1000 ft up. and allow you to see what a lot of others miss. The first 2 shots were on one of those spur roads. The sun ray shot was taken later that day in yellowstone. I have over 900 photos of Beartooth, yellowstone, jackson hole, wind river, chief joseph.... if anyone wants to see more I have plenty. Edited February 13, 2011 by ragtop69gs Spelling
jer878 Posted February 13, 2011 #11 Posted February 13, 2011 Linda and I did Sturgis last August. From there we took I-90 to 14 (also know as the Bighorn Scenic Byway) through the Bighorn Mnts and stayed in Cody that night. Next morning rode into Yellowstone, saw Old Faithful and stayed in West Yellowstone. Up the next morning west side of Yellowstone and across the north side to 212. Rode the byway to Billings spending the night there. Awesome riding, Linda had never been west of the Mississippi and was in amazement. We'll be going back again and this time we'll be heading to the road to the sun. I have some family in Kalispell so we can see them too.

jer878 Posted February 14, 2011 #21 Posted February 14, 2011 I would love to see your pics. Brian I don't use any of the photo share programs so I don't know how I would share them with you except to send you something in the mail.
Condor Posted February 15, 2011 #22 Posted February 15, 2011 for those can't see his video....this link should work...... http://www.photoshow.com/watch/Gx3pK6YR Yep that worked. Brought back some memories. A lot more snow than when we went over. Funny story. While going over BearTooth the tops of my ears started to hurt like 'H'. I thought I'd folded them over when I put on the helmet. Stopped and checked. Nope. But my vent on the top of the helmet was wide open and the tops of the ears were freezing.... Good thing I'm not a Vulcan!!! Hey what do you expect from a California boy.... So check that vent before doing the 'Tooth'...
ragtop69gs Posted February 15, 2011 #23 Posted February 15, 2011 When we went over the top in 08/2009, we were in T-shirts and still sweating. We did it again in 08/2010 and got snowed on twice, rained on, cold every day. It's a crap shoot with the weather on the Beartooth pass. Be prepared for anything. Same for our rides through Yellowstone.
Aussie Annie Posted February 15, 2011 #24 Posted February 15, 2011 Hey Jay, thanks for posting your pics Can't wait to see some of it myself
