It got up to 38 degrees today. Been below freezing for quite a while. Streets are for the most part dry. Then the itch hit me. Even worse, the forecast for the next week is for temps into the 50's.

 

Came home and dropped the battery in the bike. (The DEKA I pulled out in mid December and no charge since then) and let the pump prime up. Hit the button and it cranked for about 30 seconds and fired up. Ah..... such a sweet sound!! Let her warm up a bit and wandered off around the neighborhood.

 

My face hurts from grinning. :big-grin-emoticon:

 

Maybe ride to work tomorrow........

The weather around here has been "not bad" but the weatherman needs to get his priorities re-aligned.... we're supposed to have the nice weather on the WEEKEND, not during the week!!! For some reason he keeps making it RAIN on the weekend. ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Hey Yammer,

 

Nope...no charge since I pulled it. It was showing 12.8 on the voltmeter and 100% charge on the tester the day it came out. Been on the shelf downstairs since then and showed 12.7 when I hooked the digital meter back up on the bike today. I rode for about an hour today and I'll bet it shows 12.8 on the meter in the morning.

 

I installed this battery in April 2009. The same battery I rode about 25-30 miles home on when I fried my R/R last summer. It's been through starter failures, engage clutch failures and during the regular riding season I may start the bike 20 times day every day as I use it on a service route.

 

You may have noticed I always jump in with comments on the battery threads. This is why. These DEKA AGMs seem to be bullet proof. Never had a battery perform on a bike like this one does. No better battery for the money by my book. And Amercan made.

The AGM's have an unbelievable discharge rate. I had mine on the shelf for about 3 1/2 months last winter and never needed a tender on it. Never dropped far enough to worry about it. Gave it less than a half hour in the spring and it was back to topped out.

 

I left town last year for a few days and had bumped the toggle for my running and marker lights to the on position. They are on a seperate circuit so no key needed. When I came back 4 days later I opened the garage and it was all lit up. That was 26 lights! Granted they are all LED's but it had very little affect on the battery. Fired right up.

 

Joshua from Bohannon is a member here and he did some tests between it and the Odessy. The DEKA outperformed the Odessy on CCA's.

 

Tough lil bugger is all I gotta say.
