MrRadi8 Posted November 16, 2007 #5 Posted November 16, 2007 I loved them before I rode in downpours last weekend. Now I'm exclusively attached to them. And that smaller front was a great change.
Eck Posted November 16, 2007 #6 Posted November 16, 2007 VENOM H-RATED.....FRONT AM41..MT90B-16....$105.10 REAR AM42..150/90B/15...$121.60 BEST PRICE I FOUND http://www.americanmototire.com/ Yamahamer, Im in the process of getting the same ones except Wide White Walls... Hope Im near as happy as you sound......
yamahamer Posted November 16, 2007 Author #7 Posted November 16, 2007 IT FEALS A LITTLE ODD AT FIRST CAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THAT BIG FOOT PRINT ON THE ROAD. THE FIRST FEW STOPS I HADE TO THROW THE LANDING GEAR :rotf:BUT IT DID NOT TAKE LONG TO GET USE TO. MY 40mph WABBLE IS NEAR GONE PLUS BIKE DOES FEAL LIGHTER IT PRETY MUCH TURNS ITSELF.
Eck Posted November 16, 2007 #8 Posted November 16, 2007 VENOM H-RATED.....FRONT AM41..MT90B-16....$105.10 REAR AM42..150/90B/15...$121.60 BEST PRICE I FOUND http://www.americanmototire.com/ Best I could find on Wide White Walls ... Most places cant get.. or.. carry them...
pegscraper Posted November 16, 2007 #9 Posted November 16, 2007 So OK Suggestion as to where to get them? Don The MT90 comes out to a 130 sized tire. This is more of a 2nd gen issue, as the 1st gens run an even narrower tire than this already - a 120. And that is what baffles me when I have read elsewhere when some folks get so wrapped up in the "safety issues" of running a narrower tire than Y called for here. Plenty of other bikes are running narrower tires than what we're changing to. There are no "safety issues". Just better handling. I got mine from SWMoto Tires.
philmartin Posted November 16, 2007 #10 Posted November 16, 2007 If you go to the narrower tire should you remove the leveling links?
pegscraper Posted November 16, 2007 #12 Posted November 16, 2007 If you go to the narrower tire should you remove the leveling links? Not necessarily. I left mine in and like it. It's just a matter of how much you want to improve the handling.

Sleeperhawk Posted November 17, 2007 #14 Posted November 17, 2007 Best I could find on Wide White Walls ... Most places cant get.. or.. carry them... Eck, found this link for WWW, they are some what cheaper. http://www.helmetheadcyclegear.com/cgi-bin/eShop/index.cgi?pid=6739 Did you happen to call Southwest and see if they have them in stock?
Ramblingman Posted November 17, 2007 #15 Posted November 17, 2007 As for the little wobble you mentioned there ...try tightening your steering head and that may eliminate that problem ...there's a short cut to doing the head too ...have fun ...I also went with the Avon this summer and it's the best thing I ever did thanks to this group here and Tom!!
Pecker Posted November 19, 2007 #16 Posted November 19, 2007 I just installed the MT90 front tire on my RSTD. WOW! What a difference, best change I have made on this bike. Better handling with no draw backs. Thanks to all who did the R & D work, trying different sizes.
