OldBear Posted February 9, 2011 #1 Posted February 9, 2011 Is it just me or is this whole winter being a PITA for riding. This morning, early, the driveway was finally almost cleared of snow and the road looked pretty good. Decided I'd take the little bike out for a while, checked the tires and went in to get ready to ride. Looked out and "surprise" it was snowing like heck. Now we've got an additional 4" or so and it's still going strong. (and the temps are supposed to be in the 50's by Sunday!!) I'm gettin' cabin fever! I know y'all in the frozen north are used to this (used to live in Mich and Ia myself) but come on, this is Dixie! I usually get to ride several time a month year round, but NOT this year...
Freebird Posted February 9, 2011 #2 Posted February 9, 2011 No, it's not just you. This has been a brutal winter all over I think. Even here in Ohio, where it's never GREAT, this one seems especially bad. I am SO looking forward to spring.
Guest scarylarry Posted February 9, 2011 #3 Posted February 9, 2011 Know what you mean I'm in Nashville and I'm looking out at the street and it looks a parking lot.. 6 snows this year, but the good news is mid 50 next week so I'm taking a few days off to ride..
ragtop69gs Posted February 9, 2011 #4 Posted February 9, 2011 Yep it" been dragging on. My last ride was new years day. There's been snow, ice or salt on the roads since then. Been so long since I've taken a ride, I may need to take a MSF refresher class when the weather breaks.
RandyR Posted February 10, 2011 #6 Posted February 10, 2011 snowing again here in Georgia tonight. But it'll be gone in a day.
SteveW Posted February 10, 2011 #7 Posted February 10, 2011 It looks nice and the roads are clear. When your stuck inside anyway its not to bad.
Freebird Posted February 10, 2011 #8 Posted February 10, 2011 No new snow here this morning but it is -6 F right now. Enough already.
mini-muffin Posted February 10, 2011 #9 Posted February 10, 2011 We got now too, but it didn't stick in the road that's just wet. Heck even the driveway is clear. They said our area is getting 2 - 5" maybe somewhere else but not where I am. Suppose to hit around 60 on monday so I guess anything that comes down will be gone. Margaret
colesgrandpaw Posted February 10, 2011 #10 Posted February 10, 2011 This winter is breaking records in northwest Arkansas, 30 in. snow yesterday, -20 deg. this morning. Weatherman said 60 deg. for the weekend.
okiestar Posted February 10, 2011 #11 Posted February 10, 2011 Been tough here in Oklahoma too. Current temp is -11. That's the temp, not the wind chill. We've been bombarded with over 20 inches of total snow on the ground. Less than a week from today, the forecasted high is 70 deg. Crazy
Bobby G Posted February 10, 2011 #12 Posted February 10, 2011 Woke up to a nice blanket of snow this morning here in north GA, but the roads are already dry and the sun is out, so it will all be gone in a few hours. But it's pretty for a few hours anyway. Bring on the heat wave!
etcswjoe Posted February 10, 2011 #13 Posted February 10, 2011 Just think only 317 days till Christmas.
zooer Posted February 10, 2011 #14 Posted February 10, 2011 We have 7 inches laying here this morning and it was -2 deg at 0700. This is getting insane.
CaptainJoe Posted February 10, 2011 #15 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) Just a dusting here. Suppose to be in the 40's here Sunday and hit 50 by mid week. Hopefully this is an indication winters over..... Averages for the end of feb are around 50 for a High and mid 20's for the Lows. Weather.com is predicting BIg changes for he United states... Keep your fingers crossed... http://beta.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/february-thaw-pattern-change_2011-02-09?page=2 This is page two of three...Just hit next Edited February 10, 2011 by CaptainJoe
eagleeye Posted February 10, 2011 #16 Posted February 10, 2011 That was certainly an interesting link Thanks, Steve
CaptainJoe Posted February 10, 2011 #17 Posted February 10, 2011 No problem... When I saw it, I knew the people on here would appreciate the good news!
jer878 Posted February 10, 2011 #19 Posted February 10, 2011 Groundhog may have been right!! Ya, if you were grabbed by your "tail" and pulled out of your nice comfortable bed you'd also say/do anything to get back in.
