Last Friday on my way home from work I dumped the bike at about 30 MPH :o. I managed to only get a sore rib but my VR has severe scraps on the left front and rear crash bars, mirror and front fairing and snapped off the clutch lever.

Not exactly sure what caused the skid but I suspect the pre-treatment VDOT puts down ahead of storms or maybe a spot of sand/salt that escaped my notice.

I am definately happy I had on my "armored" jacket/gloves and jeans or the scraps on the bike would be matched by my own scraps. Guess my guardian angel was working overtime that day.

Any day you can walk away from a spill is a good day although I prefer days with no spills.

Located a clutch lever on EBay so I will back in the saddle as soon as I get the lever.

Yah! Glad to hear you can tell us about your emergency landing! Good thing you found a spare, I just sent Dano a spare handle a couple of weeks ago so I can't help you out with that. How bad is your mirror? I may have a spare in fair shape for the asking...

Surprisely the mirror took the least damage; it is scrapped on the edge but still serviceable. I say surprisely because once everything stopped and I assessed all appendages were still in place, the bike was resting on the crash bars and mirror (sans clutch lever that was several feet away). Funny how, what I thought was the flimsiest piece of the fairing, the mirror survived almost unscrapped.

I have been down 7 times, all minor, and BEFORE I took the now required state training course (though I had the license); I found I had no idea how to ride OFFENSIVELY. In this art there is no DEFFENSIVE riding, except for the escape routes.

So glad you walked away.

BTW, what was the name of your angel? May I call on her from time to time??

Hey Mike,

Both Jean and I are very glad that you were not injured! Bikes can be repaired, bodies can't! If there is ANYTHING I can do to help, please let me know. (Besides drive you back and forth to work!):crackup:I am really glad you are OK!

OK folks me and the bike are back to our daily commutes. It was amazing how simple it was to repalce the broken clutch lever. The cover and one bolt/nut combo. Wish everything was that easy.

Thanks for all the well wishes and now I can get back to planning future projects:

Barnett Spring Upgrade

New Windshield

Marks Pipe Resonator Replacement

Kuryakin Highway Pegs

Rivco Filter Conversion

Peg Extensions

and

I will be repairing and repainting parts of my bike as the weather warms up, thinking of bonding carbon fiber mat for some accents. More to come.:)
