If we remove all the "first gens are faster" and all other similar posts (this includes second gens also, they are just as bad) the post count would drop in half, and people who need real help could find the info they need much faster.

While I usually consider such posts amusing myself in the "watering hole" or "jokes" or even "M&E", it can be really irritating when it seems like every serious thread seeking technical information quickly degrades into the old worn out first gen / second gen debate.

How about a little restraint, and keeping these jokes/humor/gen debates in the threads generated for such a purpose, and out of threads seeking legitimate technical information? I am asking PLEASE?

Don't see any difference Don. Just thought I would throw in in the pot.

That depends on if you've got your glasses on or not!

BTW, 1st gens ARE faster, just ask "Bike-dropper"!

Hey, I really could care less either way about the signatures. It is entirely up to you folks. If the majority would rather see them go away...then POOF...they are gone.

You are free to start a poll or whatever to see how the majority feel about them.

If they aren't slowing anything down i say let them stay Thats my vote.:thumbsup2:

Since most of the Sigs are static Pics, they'll only load once to the User and until the User cleans his Browser Cache, they will stay there until the Browser tries to load them again. If the Browser finds the File inhis own Cache, he'll load it from there, so, not so much Resources and Bandwith is actually used. That's the standard Setting on most Browsers.

Now the active Parts, like weather Forcasts and others will take some Bandwidth and take a bit longer to load.

On another forum that I'm on, the user has the ability to block signatures and avatars so the screen will load faster. Very handy for those with dial up.

You have that option here also. Thanks for mentioning it because I had actually forgotten. For those of you who really liked it better WITHOUT the signatures, simply go to your UserCP and then Options. Scroll down and you can turn off the signatures, images, etc. as you prefer.

I just think those things that are pulling up my location and IP address should be stopped. The rest is a member being who they are. The IP thing is an intrusion of me.

Are you aware that only you get that listing, everyone else gets their own ip and address when they view that posting.

ALso, the web is a very public place, every (and I do mean every) website you visit runs a log that keeps track of who visits, and can bring up the area where you live, how long you were on that page, and where you were before and after you leave. Privacy on the web is a myth so please remember that when youre surfing....or use something like the anonymizer or a proxy service if you want to be private,.... and even then there are some things that can track you back to your computer.
