I haven't seen a radial that will fit the stock RSV rim for the rear! 17 inch I believe. But if you have, please post a link!! I'd be interested the next time I have to change out!!! Brake Pad Posted February 3, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2011 I haven't seen a radial that will fit the stock RSV rim for the rear! 17 inch I believe. But if you have, please post a link!! I'd be interested the next time I have to change out!!! I run the 180 Radial on my back and the stock 150 on the front. I find less chance of chucking tires, now this is on the Metlzers. I ran two 170's and chunked both, I moved up to a radial 180, and I'm happy with it. plus a tad bit more rubber on the ground while pulling a trailer:biker:
Guest scarylarry Posted February 3, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 3, 2011 Jake wilson has them also.. This is for the front tire and they do have the rear tire as well. Little pricey though.. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/210-

Kirby Posted February 3, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 3, 2011 Ok, so nobody caught it !!! The rear of the RSV is 15" NOT 17" rims. I went into the other room and it dawned on me what I said . I ran back in here to see how many caught it but none did. It is 15 inchers!!!

That is why I copy the link the 15 and not the 17.......:rotf: But still not for sure you can run them ok on a RSV....I'll call my stealer and maybe he will answer it with out a fee
Kirby Posted February 3, 2011 Share #12 Posted February 3, 2011 I ran an Avon Cobra radial on the front during the time I was trying to get the CT to work since the CT was a radial also. Couldn't ever get the wobble out so after 1500 miles I ditched the rear CT and tried a Continental bias with the front radial. Result: it road good but the Conti didn't last but about 6,000 miles so I went with the E3 on the rear. I got about 15,000 miles before changing it out because of a long trip I was planning to go on. The Cobra got a cut in it at around 20,000 miles so I replaced it with a E3 bias to match the new rear bias E3. I wish I could get a Cobra in a radial for the rear . I'd buy a set front and rear in a heartbeat.

Sleeperhawk Posted February 3, 2011 Share #14 Posted February 3, 2011 Avon does not make a tire in the RSV size, at least according to their website. Also, the load rating for the radial in a tire close to the same size was not even close to the non-radial venture tire. Dunlop E3 non-radial has a higher load rating too than the radials. For me, I will take the higher load rating any day.

Why they don't have them on their website is beyond me... I have been happy with the E3's but they tend to be alittle noisey so this round I will try the Avon's hey if they don't work I have the E3's to fall back on... Kirby Posted February 4, 2011 Share #16 Posted February 4, 2011 I agree with all about the load rating of the E3. I hadn't checked the load rating of the radial as compared to the E3 bias ply. Good point!!

Sleeperhawk Posted February 5, 2011 Share #18 Posted February 5, 2011 (edited) You mean Avon doesn't list a radial in the Royal Star size? Haven't found any yet, unless a V means Radial. This is the rear tire where the V is 74 (827lb per load) and the H is 80 (992 lb per load). Since I am not riding faster than 130 mph, I will stick with the H (belted). Kirby Posted February 5, 2011 Share #20 Posted February 5, 2011 Doesn't the R mean radial here? Avon AV71 Cobra 150/80R-16 Front Tire Yep! R stands for radial. V and H are for speed rating and 74 and 80 are for load rating.

If it doesn't have an R in the size it isn't radial. Look under Cobra for the tire mentioned.
