No, not a bike.....another cat. Some of you know that almost all of my dogs over the years have mostly come from rescues. For some reason though, neighbors cats and dogs always find their way to my house. Dragon, one black cat who moved here about 8 years ago with his family, somehow migrated over here and now hes basically our cat. His owners couldnt care less. This was some time ago. Fast forward to now....another neighbor, who also had a black cat, always let Chiclet loose all of the time, winters included. She was a very nasty cat and you couldnt touch her. Shes about 13 years old now. Well, a few weeks ago she started hanging out over in my garage much more then normal. I finally took a good look and realized that shes now blind. I called the neighbor who took her home. Next day I saw her walking in circles in someone elses yard in the pouring rain. I went over to her and she let me pick her up. Long story short: I guess shes mine now. So called owner couldnt give a rats a$$ about her. He had no problem letting her run loose, maybe even hoping she would just die. Got her all cozy in the garage and when it gets cold shes in the spare room. Now im juggling 2 danes and 2 black cats. Shes a sweetheart now. I guess she just needed some TLC, which she never got before.

Moral of this story: If you want a pet, make sure you fulfill your obligation to take care of these pets, not foist them on others when they are less then perfect. (a little venting)........

your a good person. i too lived out in the sticks in minnesota. for some reason every one thinks your a refuge for there unwanted animals.. i was taught by my great grandma and grandma, that there gods creatures. take care of them and they some how take care of you. like my dog just a little terrior mix about 15 pounds crawled out of his box at a friends house because mom had to many pupies and he was the runt. he was under weight. and looked like he wasent going to make it. i put him in a blanket took him home. bottle fed him and kept him warm. a little clock in his box made him think it was his moms heartbeat. well i had farley for 19 wonderfull years. you get back what you put in.

The hubby picks on me cause if it shows up and needs feeding I feed it. Doesn't matter what it is. That's how I got the cat that's in the house and her brother that's in and out. Mom had them last year when Jeff was gone and she let me touch them that day. Long story short the two stuck around. Got the little girl fixed last week, and once she's all healed up I'll take her brother in.

Heck I've been known to feed the turtles too. They don't come in the house though. :) I don't think they'd make it up the stairs.

Sad to say, I had to put Chiclet down today. Her health was failing bad. She could no longer control her functions, was barely eating and wouldnt drink. Her legs were failing and she was badly emeciated. The vet recommended the humane way out. Said our tearful goodbys and she went off to Rainbow Bridge. Havent told her previous owner yet and dont plan to. He abandoned this cat and gave up any rights to it. I should go over there and pound the 55 dollar fee out of him though.

God has a way of taking care of that! Once had a "friend" throw a kitten high into the air. I can remember him laughing at me as he rode off on his motorcycle. I was so mad I had tears in my eyes. Few minutes later he comes limping back up the rode his bike totaled and his face a bloody mess. Kitten, outside of gettin the wind knocked out of her and frightened, was otherwise ok. Kitten "1" No longer friend "0". God asked us to be good stewards of this earth. I believe that includes taking care of all animals!
