Godlover Posted February 1, 2011 #1 Posted February 1, 2011 I'm shopping for a cycle I can buy outright and I am considering a 2nd Generation RSV that has a bit over 100,000 miles. It got me to thinking - what is the most miles you have seen on a 2nd Generation RSV?
Roadhand Posted February 1, 2011 #2 Posted February 1, 2011 Thought I might bump this for you 40,000 on my 07 midnight
Rick Butler Posted February 1, 2011 #3 Posted February 1, 2011 I'm going on 140k on my 02 Midnight and it's still going strong. But I have used nothing but AMSOil synthetic 10W40 and their EA103 oil filters as well as K&N air filters since it was new. But then again, if I were to sell it, it would probably go pretty cheap because of this mileage. Hope this helps, Rick
eusa1 Posted February 1, 2011 #4 Posted February 1, 2011 a friend in ma. just sold his 99 with 189000 on it this past spring, and the new owner has been running the wheels off of it.
Guest Posted February 1, 2011 #5 Posted February 1, 2011 Several years ago at the Yamaha tent during bike week in Daytona, I met a rider in his 70's on a 99 RSV with over 220,000 on the clock and no major engine repairs.

You must have been there in 06. I met that guy there too. I wonder what he's got it up too now? Edit, I saw him in sturgis in 06, not Daytona. Later, Scooter Bob
FreezyRider Posted February 1, 2011 #9 Posted February 1, 2011 A local guy has 157,000 on his 2001. Runs great, drives/rides nice. No problems that I know of. I think it really depends on the maintenance that has been done on it. I had a 99 that I bought with 47,000 on it, it was "loose" compared to this guy's 01, and the electrical system had been hacked to death....stuff wired in everywhere, and not done properly. Just ride it before you buy it and see how it runs/rides/etc.
Godlover Posted February 1, 2011 Author #10 Posted February 1, 2011 Hows the garage? Did you get it rebuilt? Randy, I have the wall rebuilt and waiting until spring to do the siding. It is usable!!!

ahoutzer Posted February 1, 2011 #12 Posted February 1, 2011 2006, just about to hit 90,000 miles. Parts replaced: brake pads, tires, air filters, fuel filter, other stuff broken on impact with a raccoon in 2007 and a deer in 2011. Running great, and running nearly every day.
Chiro Posted February 1, 2011 #13 Posted February 1, 2011 2009 with 43,000. Rear brake pads at 26k, valve adjustment at 26k, oil change and rear end oil change every 3k miles. Use Delo 400 oil 99% of the changes, never used synthetic oil in the engine, but do use synthetic in the rear end. Oh, also air filter changed at 26k
Godlover Posted February 2, 2011 Author #14 Posted February 2, 2011 What year is the bike? It is a 99.
BigDawg Posted February 2, 2011 #15 Posted February 2, 2011 I just picked up my 2006 RSV MV on Friday at a dealer in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The fancy brochure they had for the 2010 RSVS had a guy pictured with a 2000 RSV with 300,000 miles, and he claimed the engine had never been touched. Stop by your local Yamaha dealer and you can probably see the brochure. My "new" '06 has 5400 miles, I better get ridin! Can somebody tell me where to go to get the fancy icons for the weather and the USA map and the PGR logo, etc and put it in my profile? Or do I need to be a paying member for all that? Ride Easy! Brian
