Art708 Posted January 27, 2011 #1 Posted January 27, 2011 I finished my StarGlide conversion today. I installed an RSTD rear fender to get rid of all the welded brackets on the RSV fender. I have a chrome fender rack ordered which should be here in the next few days.
Freebird Posted January 27, 2011 #2 Posted January 27, 2011 That is a fantastic look. Using the RSTD fender was a GREAT idea.
Art708 Posted January 27, 2011 Author #3 Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks Don. I tried this with the '09 that I had and ran into the bracket problem. So this time I decided to use the rstd fender.....which is the same as a Road Star fender which I have one of in the shop....but in red.
Kregerdoodle Posted January 27, 2011 #4 Posted January 27, 2011 Sweet!! Needs a set of FishTails on it!!
1joeranger Posted January 27, 2011 #5 Posted January 27, 2011 So, we got Venture owners wanting a RSTD look and RSTD owners wanting a Venture look! Actually really, really, like the look you got on yours, Great Job!!
Art708 Posted January 28, 2011 Author #7 Posted January 28, 2011 Sweet!! Needs a set of FishTails on it!! I hate fishtails....they are ugly to me.
Art708 Posted January 28, 2011 Author #8 Posted January 28, 2011 Thanks for the compliments guys... I appreciate it.
Squidley Posted January 28, 2011 #9 Posted January 28, 2011 Nice thinking outside the box, for a solo rider that is very nice. Where did you end up hiding the CB box as I see you still have both antennas?
ashley9187 Posted January 28, 2011 #10 Posted January 28, 2011 WOW, what a conversion!! I really like the look, especially since you kept the front fairing turned it into a really sweet ride! Rick A

PBJ Posted January 28, 2011 #13 Posted January 28, 2011 Beautiful job so well done. Maybe a different seat? But great look!
Rickster Posted January 28, 2011 #15 Posted January 28, 2011 YES it looks great been thinking of doing that myself just haven't got the nerve to take it on yet.
exrsa1 Posted January 28, 2011 #16 Posted January 28, 2011 I finished my StarGlide conversion today. I installed an RSTD rear fender to get rid of all the welded brackets on the RSV fender. I have a chrome fender rack ordered which should be here in the next few days. Nicely done! Are you planning on making the trunk fit back on there again. I am looking to make mine a quick detach, so I can have the RSTD back, or solo or put the trunk back on when heading out on a long run. Thanks Ex
Art708 Posted January 28, 2011 Author #17 Posted January 28, 2011 Nicely done! Are you planning on making the trunk fit back on there again. I am looking to make mine a quick detach, so I can have the RSTD back, or solo or put the trunk back on when heading out on a long run. Thanks Ex I don't really care about a trunk. I DO want to find an rstd removable backrest so I can make it into a 2-up bike when I need to without a lot of trouble. I'll give the trunk and rsv fender, etc to the new buyer when I sell or trade it.
hcdagen Posted January 28, 2011 #18 Posted January 28, 2011 Art,I just finished removing my RSTD backrest and put a Venture trunk on.I removed the spools, weld on pins for the quick release and the backrest with luggage rack. Was planning on listing it on E-Bay closer to spring, but would be happy to see a Venturerider member get it.Let me know if you're interested.Herb.
ken Posted January 28, 2011 #19 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) I did this conversion to my 05 RSV before I sold it. I loved the look and am in the process or converting my 02 RSV. I'll be sure to show it off when it's done. Edited January 28, 2011 by ken

Art708 Posted January 29, 2011 Author #24 Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks guys.... I never expected that it would generate so many positive comments. Ruffy, the shop is just one half of the garage....nothing fancy at all.
Art708 Posted January 29, 2011 Author #25 Posted January 29, 2011 BTW..... I have another rear fender if anyone is interested in doing the same thing. It is red and in good shape.
