BIG TOM Posted January 26, 2011 #1 Posted January 26, 2011 Has anyone ordered from carbtune lately. (since the cartridge bomb issue in the fall) My order was shipped out Dec. 17th. I still have not received it yet. Carbtune replies to my e-mails and just says SORRY this is a 'Homeland Security' issue and they cannot say how long it will take for me to receive it.........they state it will arrive by ground mail and tell me there is no tracking no.......(huh?)I know that they are a stand up company but, this is getting annoying. Any one else waiting on a carbtune?
mraf Posted January 26, 2011 #2 Posted January 26, 2011 Sorry to hear. When I ordered mine a couple years ago it came in a weeks time. Well over a months time is unacceptable for anything. So much for progress. You could have about rowed a boat over to get it by now.
GolfVenture Posted January 26, 2011 #3 Posted January 26, 2011 I ordered mine on 5 Oct 2010 and I believe I got it like within 2 weeks.
skydoc_17 Posted January 26, 2011 #4 Posted January 26, 2011 Hey Tom, Jean here. Earl gets one part from the UK for one of his kits and we placed an order 2 weeks BEFORE Christmas! We are STILL waiting on those parts! When Earl called about the parts to US Custom's, he got a bit "testy" with the guy on the phone and the Custom's Officer flat out told him that if he puts his "John Handcock" on a package, and it blows up after it leaves, then he looses his job, and could be prosecuted, so guess what the Officer said next? "Mister, we don't ship ANYTHING out until it sits around for 6 or 8 weeks", then if it's gonna' blow up, it will do it here. Don't you just love a bureaucracy! Earl has a talent for cutting thru all the BS, unfortunately, sometimes you don't want to hear the real truth about the situation. Your Carbtune is most likely sitting in a warehouse in NYC somewhere, waiting to blow up! Jean
GOINtoHELL Posted January 26, 2011 #5 Posted January 26, 2011 I just orderd one jan. 7.....guess I have a while to wait
CaptainJoe Posted January 26, 2011 #6 Posted January 26, 2011 I'd ship them to Gitmo and place them very close to the prisoners for 6-8 weeks. Hey for a little over $100 that i have invested in the carbtune and pouch, it'd be worth it for the chance to send some of them to Allah... My carbtune was ordered dec 22,2010 and I'm still waiting... received same email tom got...
coy55boy Posted January 26, 2011 #7 Posted January 26, 2011 Ordered mine on Dec. 31...yeah, I'm still waiting too.
Venturous Randy Posted January 26, 2011 #8 Posted January 26, 2011 My old mercury stick setup is looking better and better. I am just glad I am not trying to get mercury from over there. RandyA
DanC Posted January 26, 2011 #9 Posted January 26, 2011 Has anyone ordered from carbtune lately. (since the cartridge bomb issue in the fall) My order was shipped out Dec. 17th. Any one else waiting on a carbtune? Yes, I also ordered a carbtune from them and it was shipped out on Dec 14th 2010. It has yet to arrive!! I keep sending them e-mails concerning me not getting the unit and so after 30 days they re-sent me another one by "international sign for service" with some type of number, not a tracking number, but one that needs to be signed for. according to them the item has arrived in the states now however I still have not recieved it. The replacement carbtune was sent out on the 17th of January. Still waiting for either of them to arrive. I will return the additional one if I do recieve two carbtunes. The packages are being held up somewhere because of the possible bomb threat. DanC:dancefool:
friesman Posted January 27, 2011 #10 Posted January 27, 2011 I ordered one mid December and got it before Christmas, so i guess its a U.S. issue. Usually its Canada Post thats slower than turtle speed
Flyinfool Posted January 27, 2011 #11 Posted January 27, 2011 Hmmmmmmm Maybe we need someone in Canada to pass stuff from the UK through.
CaptainJoe Posted January 27, 2011 #12 Posted January 27, 2011 It'd get here faster if we went through MEXICO!
friesman Posted January 27, 2011 #13 Posted January 27, 2011 Hmmmmmmm Maybe we need someone in Canada to pass stuff from the UK through. Sure...i would love to help you guys out...but a couple of things...mabbe it was an accident mine got thru, and our shipping costs from Canada can get pretty high. Maybe give it another wait and see, and then if ya still want to we can see if shipping here will work brian
Venturous Randy Posted January 27, 2011 #14 Posted January 27, 2011 I think you of you guys should approach Carb Tune about being a U.S. distributor. RandyA
mraf Posted January 27, 2011 #15 Posted January 27, 2011 I was telling my brother-in law about your wait for your Carbtune. He told me that he orders parts from Germany for machines were he works and that it takes months sometimes for them to come in. He says it takes so long sometimes that when they finally come in he has to scratch his head to remember that he even ordered them.:rotfl:. How can this be acceptable in this "need to know it have it now world". Its time for the feds to ease up and give private enterprise a crack at parcel security.

I just picked up a couple of bike covers off Ebay from China. Got'm in about 10 days. So I guess Homeland Security only applies to certain countries.... Maybe it's "He who has the gold, makes the rule".... What get's me is why the H they're opening up packages in the first place. They have drug dogs, where are the bomb dogs??
mraf Posted January 27, 2011 #17 Posted January 27, 2011 Tom call'em back and have them ship to a supplier in China. You will have it sooner. About them Bomb sniffing dogs I hear their having a rough time opening packages.
hunter 1500 Posted January 27, 2011 #18 Posted January 27, 2011 I ordered mine on 5 Oct 2010 and I believe I got it like within 2 weeks. Same here.
LilBeaver Posted January 29, 2011 #19 Posted January 29, 2011 ... Your Carbtune is most likely sitting in a warehouse in NYC somewhere, waiting to blow up! Jean Okay so I got a good laugh out of this post and Jean/Earl, I am not laughing at you at all - my laughter is at the custom's agent that you spoke with as he clearly had a sense of humor. While there IS some truth to what they told you it is a very short winded and my guess is that explanation is good enough for most people that call in wondering what is taking so long. Truth is, you are lucky that you were able to talk to anyone at all. It is a little more involved than whether the package blows up or not. There is plenty of truth in the statement that whatever agent signs that the package has been inspected and allowed to pass through is simply that whoever authorizes it MAY be held liable for whatever happens with it once it leaves the port. The truth in the matter is that they inspect for much more than just explosives and with the increase in imports during the holidays and reduced man hours, it is only reasonable to see that they could get backed up on their inspections a little more than normal. Not to mention if something happened to be found in a crate that your shipment was also included in, that would delay processing in your particular package. I hope this sheds a little more light on the topic. Hopefully ya'll will get your orders soon.
BIG TOM Posted January 29, 2011 Author #20 Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks for the inside info, but I still want to know when can I expect my package........can you find out if it will be this year??? :rotf:

mraf Posted January 30, 2011 #22 Posted January 30, 2011 Thanks for the inside info, but I still want to know when can I expect my package........can you find out if it will be this year??? :rotf: Well this year isn't looking so good. You know what with the economy so bad and everything. Gas is up, stock market doesn't know if its up or down anymore. The polar ice caps melting. Voyager spacecraft now in deep space. High unemployment. Windmills popping up all over the country. Chevrolet beating Toyota in sales. The war in Afghanistan. The super bowl taking place soon. The electric cars being built but selling for way to much for Joe average. The east coast covered in deep snow. Not to mention the deficit. But look at it this way "IT AIN'T THERE YET"! Maybe next year.:rotfl: My bet is they found something in that crate and forgot all about sending your stuff to you. Mm mm Brownies.:rotfl:
