Well It has been awhile but here is a picture of my 'new' to me 2004 Midnight RSV. It's not the best picture inside the garage but there is too much snow and ice to wheel it outside for an outdoor picture.

New Avon Venom's

New Tulsa Tall windscreen

New Yamaha driving light bar and lights

Ordered and on the way: Speedo Healer

Buckeye High output stator

Nice looking bike! I just picked up my '06 on Friday, the missus is calling her the "Black Beauty", and I have to agree with her, she is indeed a beauty!

Now where can I get a luggage rack and how difficult is it to install it?

There are a number of places to get the rack...even 3rd party or Honda .... Yamaha rack is most common. Off-hand I don't have any specifics.

As for installing, they are a little "tricky" ... first rule is to FOLLOW the INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!

Second rule is .... MEASURE THREE TIMES, drill once!

What I found is to put the screws into the rack ... just a couple threads to catch and then look at the angle ... it will help in drilling the holes otherwise you may find that when you put the screws thru the lid, they don't line up properly and you have to ream out the holes a bit bigger.

I also found that doing one hole at a time and then measuring again ensures accuracy...for instance, do the forward (closest to the backrest) right hole ... screw the rack down (not tight) and measure for the left hole.

Cover the area with masking tape soas not to "accidentally" scratch your trunk lid.

Make sure you don't over-tighten.

you asked about a luggage rack, I got a Show Chromeoff of e-bay for 100.00, and they paid the shipping, just have to watch for a few weeks and it comes up. The Yammy rack was like 200.00 bucks but didn't see what was worth the extra 100.00 bucks. and the rack looks good on the back of my RSMV.

Hey thanks for the comments and thoughts. Boy I tell you this winter has been unreal but maybe not as bad as the folks on the east coast. Riding season can't come soon enough for me this year.

Blech... 3 feet of snow tonight.. groan.. In the last few years the die hards around here tend to get the bikes out in mid march, still ice on the lakes, just to say we got the bikes out.. but it's typically mid May we can say we got the bikes out for good.. some of us even earlier ;)
