6pak Posted January 20, 2011 #1 Posted January 20, 2011 I got this link in my email today, it's for an early '80s designed HD that never made it to production. Too bad too, it looks pretty interesting. http://big-diesel.blogspot.com/2007/09/nova-harley-davidson-which-was-never.html
RandyR Posted January 20, 2011 #2 Posted January 20, 2011 I've heard it claimed that Harley sold the design to Yamaha. Not sure if thats true or not.
IH Truck Guy Posted January 20, 2011 #3 Posted January 20, 2011 They have one of the prototypes at the Harley museum in the Milwaukee. They could have had the world my the a$$...
PBJ Posted January 20, 2011 #4 Posted January 20, 2011 I remember writing a thread about this two years ago . It was in along with a discussion about the V rod engine which was another step in the design process,
KarlS Posted January 20, 2011 #5 Posted January 20, 2011 Last year at Bikes on the Bricks there was a V-4 shaft driven Harley. Thought I had pictures of it but can't find them. Maybe Straycatt has some.
waterbug Posted January 21, 2011 #6 Posted January 21, 2011 I took a behind the scenes tour at HD museum last yr and asked about that bike and the guys that gave the tour was one of the guys that worked on it then. If I remember rite they were berry close to going into production and had around 7 mil in it and I think it was when the familynbought the company back they droped it. They have more than one and there is a warehouse on the top floor that is full of bikes and that's were I seen the first one and a few other bikes that never made the streets.
