I recently purchased a 98 Royal Star, the dealer told me it is a tour deluxe but I am not so sure, it does not have all the extra that I seen in the pictures I've looked at. Does any one know where I might be able to look up the vin# to find out for sure which model of Royal Star it is? I always come up to this question when trying to purchase accessorie for the bike.

Thanks:grandma:

I believe the 98 tour deluxe is the same as the 96, they came with a windshield (no fairing) and hard bags that have a leather covering.

That is not a 98 Royal Star Tour Deluxe, the 98 TD was a 2 piper not a 4 piper, the bags were hard ABS bags like the current Venture except that they were not hinged on the side they lifted off, many were lost while riding because they were not latched properly.

This is a '98 Tour Classic II. It has the dual, not quad mufflers and the leather slant bags. I think I'm right in that the Tour Deluxe that year was virtually the same except it had leather hard bags.

Does it have an emblem on both upper sides of the front fender. The emblems on my Tour Classic says just that, "Tour Classic" yours should have "Tour Deluxe" emblems.

Here are a couple of not so good PDF s that show all of the models available for the cruiser line in 1998, this should help ypu identify your bike, if it is all still stock.

Dug050,

That is a 96 or 97 Royal Star Tour Classic. At least that's what it is in the US. Canada may be different. The Tour Deluxe's were 2 pipers. Here is a pic of my 97 RSTC.
