" I ride an 08 tour deluxe with just under 10,000 miles on it. As soon as I can get rid of it, it is gone. I love the bike, but have no confidence in the company any more. It is time for a change. "

I don't understand why you would want to get rid of a bike that you love and that is only 3 yrs old just because Yammie has their head up their butts? The dealers have to honor your warranty for another 2 years, the motor is practically bullet proof anyways. If you are a person that trades bikes every few years then I guess your logic makes sense cause the resale value on these things drop like a stone after a couple of years but for me, the TD I bought in 05 will probably be the last bike I buy, it was the one that kept pulling me back not the Venture. Besides you can always add a batwing, put in the am/fm/cd/mp3 capable stereo and away yah go :big-grin-emoticon:

Not only is the cassette outdated, so is CD. You may not use an ipod, but most phones these days are also mps players. Much cheaper and easier for Yamaha AND the consumer just to put a phone plugin or bluetooth.

If I am not mistaken, that is what the little round deeley is for right next to the cassette deck. That 3.5mm audio jack is about as universal as it gets!

I for one use my cassette deck and am glad that we have that as an option. Would I be upset if the bike did not have it, of course not. But, I have no problem with having more options on how to deliver music to my ears.

Look at Kawasaki, one frame, one motor, five models. All 1700 cc.easy to build and less overhead. This is going to be the way of the future for most everything from toasters to cars.Yamaha will have to streamline to stay in business.

A couple of years ago I talked to a retired yamaha dealer from Wisconsin. He was bitter toward yamaha. He said they are very tight lipped about new models. Said the dealers don't even know what a new year model brings until the dealer meetings each year. He also said the japs don't care what the dealers think and will not listen to their dealers. Just saying.

Yamaha may have to start changing their tune. In the past the internet wasn't as prevalent as it is now. Information is available in a nano-sec after it's released. Complaints and displeasure are also. They may actually have to start listening.... or stick with building guitars and amps..... :whistling::2cents:

It's worse than that. Why even put that in the bike? I just bought a set of A2DP enabled bluetooth helmets intercom that also have a FRS radio in them. I have my bike to bike, my intercom to the ol-lady and we both can listen to our own music and make and answer the phones. I simply say "call.... home" and the cellphone dials my home number. " I say "Play Riding playlist and it starts playing my riding playlist. 100% hands free because of the helmet and the iphone.

Plus the FRS is also hands free I have buttons on the side of the helmet attachment to select modes.

It works great, I'm ripping out and selling the in bike radio setup as it will never be used again.

FWIW - this sounds a lot like what happened with the Honda Valkyrie. First, fewer and fewer displays at shows and events. Lots of questions from owners about new models, upgrade to 1800 cc engine, etc and no one from Honda able to answer them. Eventually, one last model year - standard bike, any color you want as long as it's black, and then. No more Valks. Great bike, lots of pluses. Owners were (are) fanatics about the bikes, and couldn't understand why Honda discontinued them. Only answer was that they didn't sell well. Maybe the beginning of the end for Ventures.

Just talked to my buddy inside Yamaha corporate in Cypress. There are absolutely no plans being discussed to bring a revamped RSV to the U.S. market anytime before 2013 or even later. They are focused almost entirely on remaining competitive in the sport bike and crossover markets, PWC, sport boats (in which they now hold the #1 market share over the likes of Sea Ray and Wellcraft), and ATV's. Harley and Honda are firmly entrenched in their positions in M/C market share, and big expensive cruisers won't help Yamy gain any ground on them. To the powers there, it's a mis-allocation of resources for a company that will post another $100MM+ dollar loss for 2010. The RSV line is destined to flounder in production limbo for a few more years at least. After that, who knows. This is truly from the horse's mouth.

I hope you have an unlimited plan for the gps and music streaming. If you don't, it's going to cost you big time.

I could see this. Harleys sales are down 15 % also. I dont think they are going to come back either. Their big buyers, baby boomers, are buying less bikes as they age. So I predict they will be back where they were in the early 80's like when AMF owned them withering on the vine in a few years

If history repeats itself, bike sales will surge if gas goes to 4.00+ gallon, that happen here few years back when it shot up over night..

Not any one brand sold more than others from what I read just only bikes less than 1000cc was the hottest.

Problem was bike accidents surge to mostly from the mentally of I rode when I was kid and I can still do it, and they did not bother to take MSF course...

I got an interesting e-mail today from Yamaha Sports Plaza.

"be one of the first to see the New 2012 YAMAHA Super Tenere" Googled it and watched the Yamaha video. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/651/0/home.aspx perhaps this is the future of the Venture.

Mike

Sorry, I can't see an 800 mile day on that. Especially fully loaded and 2 up. That's not a Venture replacement.

That said, it does look like a fun "adventure touring" bike and I'd like to see one in my garage!

Wow I didnt know that about the accessories . Since I ordered one of everything back in 04 and 05 my chrome will be worth more than my bike.
