jonesy Posted January 15, 2011 #1 Posted January 15, 2011 Looking to take rte. 287 from NY.-NJ. line to Rte. 78 west to Rte. 81s , towing 5th wheel 2car trailer, what kind of roads am I looking at as far as hills, traffic and such. Thankful for any help I can get. thanks for your time
Guest Ken8143 Posted January 15, 2011 #2 Posted January 15, 2011 78 is gentle rolling hills. Traffic can be somewhat thick depending on what time of day. 81 south can be very heavy with traffic, especially truck traffic. Some light up and down. Road surface is fairly good for PA. Road work down around Chambersburg
jonesy Posted January 15, 2011 Author #3 Posted January 15, 2011 Rte. 287 is my biggest ??, been on 78, 81 but never 287, thinking its like garden state but no tolls.
steamer Posted January 16, 2011 #4 Posted January 16, 2011 Some mild hills, alot like turnpike,no tolls on 287. some areas are rough and in need of work. Some sections are under construction.some section are finished.very heavy traffic during rush hour.saturday and sunday are best time to travel this road.Mid day during the week is ok.A lot of stupid drivers on this road be careful.hope this helps.
