etcswjoe Posted January 11, 2011 #1 Posted January 11, 2011 Since there seems to be a lull in post I would like to tap the vast knowledge of this group. My brother and I are trying to set up a Car and Bike show in memory of our Dad May 14 in Virginia. I would like to know if anyone on here has every set one up and has any pointers? The site we are looking at having it has room for a couple hundred vehicles. We want to have the proceeds go to the local votech schools to support auto and bike programs.
Eck Posted January 11, 2011 #2 Posted January 11, 2011 Suggest calling a place where a car and bike show WAS hosted and they may be able to explain the ropes.. You can do a search on the web in your area, and see who has held one in the past and contact them.. Hey, it's just a thought..I'd be lost too if I was trying to arrange one..
SMSgt Posted January 11, 2011 #3 Posted January 11, 2011 Advertise, advertise, advertise. Go to as many shows as you can and pass out fliers to those who are presenters. Talk to the people and let them know of the importance of what you are doing. I have been to more shows than I can remember I have a show car a Mustang Cobra that has won many awards and at every show there are people telling us of other shows and it helps a great deal to get to know the people you want to come. Are you going to charge admission to the show or just charge the presenters? I never minded paying to get my car in a show. If it is a good cause that is. There are shows that I won't do because they are just there for personal benefit. Anyway good luck. I'd come if it were in the western part of the US.
etcswjoe Posted January 11, 2011 Author #4 Posted January 11, 2011 We are planning on charging to enter a car or bike not for admission. My brother is trying to get it registered as a non-profit so we can set up an official scholarship fund. As much as my Dad enjoyed teaching kids and grown ups about cars we figured it would be a fitting tribute. I have talked to some people at the local car shows and my brother is doing the same. I have added pages to our website for the car show and once we get the details worked out I plan on publishing it. http://www.gradys-garage.com/gradysgarage_files/ban.jpg
