BCLII Posted January 11, 2011 #1 Posted January 11, 2011 I just got my V-Twin clamps and have fabricated mounting brackets for the RK Classic muffler (# 98a) install. My ? is, are there exhaust gaskets that i need to purchase? Are there exhaust gaskets at all? I want to make sure I have everthing before I start the change out. Thanks, Byron
rod Posted January 11, 2011 #2 Posted January 11, 2011 No need for gaskets. slip them on and clamp them down. Rod
SilvrT Posted January 11, 2011 #3 Posted January 11, 2011 No need for gaskets. slip them on and clamp them down. Rod Yep .... clean the mating surfaces with some emery paper first and that's all there is to it.

Hummingbird Posted January 11, 2011 #5 Posted January 11, 2011 not really too much to tackle - should be able to swap out in about an hour, including a beverage break
Hummingbird Posted January 11, 2011 #6 Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks, going to tackle it this thursday! did you get thumb screws for your bags yet ?? - cheap and really speeds up any job including cleanup
SilvrT Posted January 11, 2011 #7 Posted January 11, 2011 not really too much to tackle - should be able to swap out in about an hour, including a beverage break heh ... I was going to say 1/2 hr (without the beverage break)
BCLII Posted January 12, 2011 Author #8 Posted January 12, 2011 did you get thumb screws for your bags yet ?? - cheap and really speeds up any job including cleanup Would there be any issues with not being able to get these tight enough so they won't vibrate loose? Don't want a bag to come loose.
Primebeef Posted January 12, 2011 #9 Posted January 12, 2011 For those thinking of doing the RK pipes install, I have found the V-Twin Clamps at Howard's Customs, $27.22 for the set, which includes shipping. It was the cheapest place I could find. I recently installed a set of RK pipes on my bike and I love the sound. Reminds me of a small V-8 with Flowmaster mufflers, nice low rumble. I didn't remove any of the baffle plates. http://www.howardscustoms.com/products/detail.asp?id=29513
