Bubber Posted January 6, 2011 #1 Posted January 6, 2011 I have a crazy desire to purchase a Vintage Travel Trailer... like from pre 1960 or so. I have seen some pretty reasonable and some not so resonable. I was wondring if any one on here has any leads to one. Hummingbird has turned me on to the trail of one in or near Ohio. I just love the look of those old trailers and the beatiful wood work in them. Let me know if you have a lead on something in your neck of the woods. Thanks Much! Steve aka Bubber
Kregerdoodle Posted January 6, 2011 #2 Posted January 6, 2011 a Early `60s AirStreem would be pretty cool, good luck in your search..
Flyinfool Posted January 6, 2011 #3 Posted January 6, 2011 You are right, you have a crazy desire...... Watch eBay, they pop up there pretty often, maybe more so toward spring.

86er Posted January 7, 2011 #7 Posted January 7, 2011 A customer on one of my FedEx routes bought a vintage Scottie and fixed it up. It came out really nice! But he said he did spend a bit more than he anticipated.
scotty Posted January 7, 2011 #8 Posted January 7, 2011 I just gave mine away last fall. I'm trying to upgrade. Still got a truck camper of the same vintage if yer interested.:rotf:
Marcarl Posted January 7, 2011 #9 Posted January 7, 2011 Just be careful for dry rot, soft floors, rusty trailer beams, deteriorating aluminum siding and mouse poop.
Marcarl Posted January 7, 2011 #10 Posted January 7, 2011 Should I start lookin' over here too Bubber:think: we could stick some pontoons on it and float it over :rotf: Cheap way of getting the bike over here or what?????
RoadKill Posted January 7, 2011 #11 Posted January 7, 2011 Check this one. http://www.hoppersrv.com/homes/viewlisting.php?listing=201 Wife and I seriously considered it. It has new electrical wiring, new stove, new fridge, new mattresses. It is owned by the RV Dealership Owner. Last fall he was asking $6700.
Eck Posted January 7, 2011 #12 Posted January 7, 2011 how about this one..looks very clean.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=490671
saltcreep Posted January 7, 2011 #13 Posted January 7, 2011 I don't know if this is your cup of tea or not, but the "egg" fiberglass campers seem to just last forever. I have a Casita 16ft that I got a few years back and fixed up. Replaced the floor with Laminate, new cabinet doors, etc. Was really a fun and not too hard project and it requires very little maintenance now. Lots of neat models and info on the different types here: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/index.html

Hummingbird Posted January 10, 2011 #22 Posted January 10, 2011 Bubber - I spoke to Jill yesterday. Did I mention that she works in Columbus Ohio, lives in Newark and has 3 hours a day ( on a good day ) commute ? she said she would get some pics as soon as she can. Dick
ragtop69gs Posted January 10, 2011 #24 Posted January 10, 2011 This place is all vintage trailers for rent but, sometimes have some for sale. Worth looking at the website for ideas on what you might like. If I ever get down there it's on my list of places to stop for a night. http://www.theshadydell.com/Rates.html
Bubber Posted January 13, 2011 Author #25 Posted January 13, 2011 I found a trailer and made an offer on it! It is a 1966 AVION H25. It needs some work but the major stuff has already been done. I am going Saturday to seal the deal and take another look at it and pick the brains of the PO. The wife is on board with it and after I got up off the floor I was elated. Wonders never cease! Yippy Ki-O-Ki-A ! Bubber
