TearlessTom Posted January 2, 2011 #1 Posted January 2, 2011 I just did a clutch repair installing Skydoc's kit which is working well. No more slipping. Inside where all the pressure and friction plates reside after removing the wire and last 1/2 plate and such I see stamped on the inside "26H00" Does this mean I still have the H basket or does it mean nothing at all. Wish I had taken a photo. Tom
Marcarl Posted January 3, 2011 #2 Posted January 3, 2011 Do you have a whine or a chirp? If not,,, now need to worry your little head over it.

LOL I do have a bit of whine but not like has been described here. Just wondering so I would know what to tell the dealer if it ever got worse. Not really sure where the whine comes from. Sounds more from the front left of the engine to me... This bike is new to me so I am still exploring..
Freebird Posted January 3, 2011 #4 Posted January 3, 2011 I don't THINK that number indicates that you have an "H" basket. It may, but I don't think so. All that I have seen have the "H", "I", whatever...inscribed on the back side of the clutch basket. You have to remove the clutch basket to see it and then it's just a single letter.
Art708 Posted January 3, 2011 #5 Posted January 3, 2011 I just had the basket changed in my '07 RSV......no difference. Mine doesn't whine, it howls. Sounds like a worn out differential in a truck howling. Of course I didn't have sense enough to look at the marking on the basket before the dealer changed it out so I don't know what letter basket he replaced it with. I sure wish I could get rid of this noise. My '07 TD and my '09 RSV were both very quiet, not so this one. Sorry for the thread hijack.

However in this case I might be... gasp!!....wrong... I often wonder why someone hasn't tried installing the quieter 1stGen clutch basket in a whining/howling 2ndGen, since it might be a direct swap. Anyone physically done it yet? Rather than just comparing part numbers..
