BigBear Posted December 31, 2010 #1 Posted December 31, 2010 What are the symptoms of a stuck/cracked/burnt exhaust valve? Survey says.....?
MikeWa Posted December 31, 2010 #2 Posted December 31, 2010 Low compression. Exhaust sound and feel will be different left to right. If it is an 08 have the dealer look at it and think warranty. Mike
Monty Posted January 1, 2011 #3 Posted January 1, 2011 Crank it up and hold a dollar bill near the end of the pipe. If it tries to suck the dollar in, then the valve is faulty, and it is letting air back in thru the exhaust whenever the piston is on the intake stroke.
RandyR Posted January 1, 2011 #4 Posted January 1, 2011 what kind of mileage do you have on the engine?
BigBear Posted January 1, 2011 Author #5 Posted January 1, 2011 what kind of mileage do you have on the engine? Currently have 33k... I've noticed over the last couple of weeks the smell of exhaust while riding (all speeds). I've checked the exhaust flanges to insure they are all tight...same with the muffler connections. At this point, I'm kind of grapsing at straws!!!
Marcarl Posted January 1, 2011 #6 Posted January 1, 2011 Check to make sure that all the choke pistons go all the way back when you push the button back in. Could also be a bit of dirt in the carb, so try the SeaFoam treatment.
