Flyinfool Posted May 29, 2011 #77 Posted May 29, 2011 I sure wish I had that jug Friday and/or yesterday while stranded in Black Creek. My 260 mile planned drive ended up being a 36 hour ordeal / electrical nightmare.
Dano Posted May 29, 2011 #78 Posted May 29, 2011 I like the jar, but shouldn't it say "Bubba's smoke-in-a-jar" instead of Lucas??
Flyinfool Posted June 1, 2011 #79 Posted June 1, 2011 Well since my truck blew up over memorial weekend, it has wiped out all chance of me making it to Freebirds MD. But that means that it is much more likely that I will be able to make it to the WI MD. It is still dependent on how Erika's foot is healing, but I think that she will be fine for a day. I still need to grease my pins that I never got around to at the last WI MD, If there is time available on a lift. I also have a couple of minor electrical issues to attend to, if there is the time and ambition. Is there anything that I should bring up with me? Since I did all of that work to get the bike and a trailer ready to take to Ohio maybe I'll get ambitious and pull it to Fox Lake, just so that I will at least have used it for something this year. Is there anyone heading up from the Milwaukee area? Bob, did you ever get that second brass pole mounted on the new bar???

But that means that it is much more likely that I will be able to make it to the WI MD. Sorry to ear of your truck troubles, sounds like quite a mess. But it will be good to see you again, and the new trailer. I still need to grease my pins that I never got around to at the last WI MD, If there is time available on a lift. I also have a couple of minor electrical issues to attend to, if there is the time and ambition. Is there anything that I should bring up with me? I'm sure we can find lift time, I think Red Rider is bringing another lift also. We have lots of concrete inside and out for clean wrenchin'. Just bring whatever you need for supplies for your work, and that should be fine. Oh, and whatever you want to drink. Bob, did you ever get that second brass pole mounted on the new bar??? No, back problems have slowed my activities a bit. But the garage is almost clean and ready. Later, Scooter Bob
Flyinfool Posted June 2, 2011 #81 Posted June 2, 2011 A CLEAN GARAGE????? You do know that a clean garage is a sign of a sick mind.......... The truck is getting there, I am done taking things apart and have started to reassemble. I even got it started and took it for a short drive around the block. Still lots to put back together though.

Brats, Chips, Cookies........what. Friday night is fine. We'll get you some floor space. GPS will get you to the vacant lot next door, we're the gray ranch on the east side of the street. I suppose you could do chips or cookies, I'll check with Karen. Forgot to ask does anyone have tire tools and has anyone done tires in case I can get some ordered and in in time? I have a friend 8 miles down the road that has a changer. He'll swap them for $10 per tire. We can lift and remove rims from bike and run them down there with my truck, or someones trailer behind a bike. If you want you can put my address down for the "ship to" if you don't want to haul the tires. Later, Scooter Bob

Flyinfool Posted June 3, 2011 #90 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) Erikas foot is getting better. Less bad? Stitches should come out tomorrow. Hopefully the pins come out in the first week or two of July. Then at least another 6 weeks of taking it easy after that. By Labor Day she should be getting around pretty good. My truck is getting better to. DRL and remote start are the only things left (that I know of) that don't work. Edited June 3, 2011 by Flyinfool

GG54172 Posted June 3, 2011 #92 Posted June 3, 2011 I will talk to my wife and see if we can come Sat. My wife says I owe her a night out anyways. If I do come I can help with clutch upgrades. I have some recent experience... Does anyone have a valve shim kit? I may also try to get a Vmax spring to replace the two OEM springs I have now.
Scooter Bob Posted June 3, 2011 Author #93 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) If I do come I can help with clutch upgrades. I have some recent experience... So I heard. I may also try to get a Vmax spring to replace the two OEM springs I have now. I'm sure you would have some onlookers to see what's in there. And that's what these MD's are all about. Well sort of. Does anyone have a valve shim kit? That's a big job. I watched REDRIDER do his last spring, took two or three hours to check and adjust everything, and he already had everything off, and had to put it all back on the top of the bike after I left. Hopefully he will chime in on the total length of time required. Be good to meet you and the Missus though. Later, Scooter Bob Edited June 4, 2011 by Scooter Bob
Scooter Bob Posted June 4, 2011 Author #94 Posted June 4, 2011 One week till the festivities. Scooter Bob Posted June 5, 2011 Author #95 Posted June 5, 2011 i need to do skydoc clutch upgrade and a carbsynch would be good.maybe check brakes the front sqeel a bit.we will see you friday evening sometime. Pick up some brake pad lube for greasing the contact area between the pads and the pistons. That should fix it. All I have and have ever used is some high temp wheel bearing grease, and that worked too. Since you're leaving Saturday Noon, We'll probably do that carb sync when you roll in Friday when it's hot. Later, Scooter Bob

Keemez Posted June 6, 2011 #100 Posted June 6, 2011 I should have saved some sort of procedure for my 93 to be done. As it is I am about 3 weeks into a multiweek project which just kept getting bigger and bigger as I went along. Well, at least the engine is gonna look cherried out now (beadblasted and painted several components). Barring any serious setbacks I'm planning on coming and hangin out for the day Saturday.
