bj66 Posted December 30, 2010 #1 Posted December 30, 2010 Well it is our turn to get the crappy weather. Time to hunker down in doors here in South Dakota. 2 to 5 inches today with another 10 to 12 tomorrow. So far wind gusts of up to 43 mph. Dang it all anyway, now I cant get the bike out..........Ok maybe not. Everybody stay safe and have a great new year! I just threw in the stir the pot deal cause the fire looked warm!
Iowawegian Posted December 30, 2010 #2 Posted December 30, 2010 And it's headed our way after you get it.......One more weekend the hubby will be up at 2:00am for the whole weekend plowing roads! Why can't it ever blizzard during the week...? It looks like it's going to be a huge storm...we are now in dense fog, rain, and it's suppose to start snowing tonight.... Remind me again, why we live in this mess?

bendtdj Posted December 30, 2010 #5 Posted December 30, 2010 It is now 2:35 P.M. here in Madison, SD. The fog gave way to rain this morning. The rain has now given way to snow. The forecast is for more of this white stuff and very cold temps. I am glad that Doreen and I don't worry about the "New Year's Eve" party thing anymore. I would not want to be out Friday night. I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!! Dave

Remind me again, why we live in this mess? Come on down to North Carolina, where we have had the coldest December on record plus snow. That is why I left Nebraska in 1986. All things considered I would rather stay here. At least I got to ride a few times since Thanksgiving and if we have a normal January/February I will get a lot more riding in.
Aussie Annie Posted December 31, 2010 #7 Posted December 31, 2010 Or you could come on "down" to west oz and sit in 40C [104F]
bj66 Posted December 31, 2010 Author #8 Posted December 31, 2010 Or you could come on "down" to west oz and sit in 40C [104F] Someday Id love to come down there. But to be honest I can get that 40C [104F] right here in SD. All I gotta do is wait awhile. South Dakota's weather is never boring, just wait a bit, it'll change. But I gotta admit, it might be fun experiencing 104 degrees somewhere else!

Yeah its kinda funny how everyone that isnt from this plains area always thinks of the cold, but we also get the heat in summer and have some of the best summer weather anywhere. Brian

PBJ Posted December 31, 2010 #11 Posted December 31, 2010 And its 50F here in western new York go figure??
OB-1 Posted January 1, 2011 #12 Posted January 1, 2011 Happy New Year! The storm is now over for us in Wyoming, but it's still ragin' for you easterners... For the first time in about 48-hours the wind-chill and standard temperature are the same. -8F. We only got 6-8 inches of snow, but lots of big drifts thanks to the wind. Wind-chill for the past two days has been nearly a constant -30 to -35F. I'll likely spend a good bit of time pushing snow with the tractor once the sun comes up.
bj66 Posted January 1, 2011 Author #13 Posted January 1, 2011 At 9:30 a.m. the sun is out and i think it is mostly done snowing. But the wind is still blowing hard. Hopefully it will die down in the afternoon. Then I can get the tractor and snowblower out. Only problem is, my farm is a 1/2 mile away, and I dont think I can get out to my tractor. Just looking out back of the house where there are some spots where it doesnt drift, it looks like anywhere from a foot to a foot and a half of new crap. Gonna be hard to get around for those who like to ice fish now.
