You could also ask one of the moderators to send out a directed mass E-mail to the members in Illinois to make sure those who don't come on the site regularly are aware of it.
Eck Posted December 30, 2010 #3 Posted December 30, 2010 Rick, You can also click on this link http://www.doodle.com/ I use this every time I schedule a meet & eat. To set it up, you can follow the easy set up instructions and when your done, it anyone who wants to attend your event to add their name / names and it then keeps a running total of how many folks are going to attend and this helps you know how much beer to buy... ops..food to buy.... It is very simple to use.
frogmaster Posted December 30, 2010 #4 Posted December 30, 2010 Above says Community in there is a Member List, you can Scan for IL and if I'm not mistaken you can "sort" by state too. Good Luck
Squidley Posted December 30, 2010 #5 Posted December 30, 2010 Rick, The only responce I have for you is BE PREPARED you will have members come out of the woodwork! Ask Giga Whiskey what happened when he hosted a MD BBQ at his place in North Texas I will mention this also, put out a tip jar. I know a lot of folks dont like to do that, but I make it a point if we go to someones house thats hosting a get together I throw some greenbacks in. Make it a pot luck too, bring a dish to pass and perhaps you supply the main course meat. Try not to over engineer it, set a date and a Time/Place and let it run it's course. Trust me on that one....BTW when are we coming over??
Bubber Posted December 30, 2010 #6 Posted December 30, 2010 Rick, ....BTW when are we coming over?? Squidley he didn't mention food,YET! LOL :moon:
Rick Haywood Posted December 30, 2010 Author #7 Posted December 30, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I am just at the thinking about it point but would like to have one in May or June. I want people to be able to ride in and then we can all do a ride together and then Eat and have some beer at my place. I can't do it any later because I am planning a 23 day 15 state ride to the west coast and Northwest the last half of July and first of August. Anyway I will decide a date after the first of the year and let everyone know. It will be pot luck and I will supply the main dish. I wouldn't mind supplying the beer but then you get into liability issues but there is a bar and carry out about 1/4 mile from the house. I just got to thinking about all the people within 200 miles that are on this board that mat decide to come over............WOW could be a great time. Also any other insight or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Rick
Flyinfool Posted December 30, 2010 #8 Posted December 30, 2010 Although I have never made it to a M&E, I have only been to MDs. There is always the possibilities of some folks border jumping from surrounding states. The MDs that I have been to also had some of the folks that traveled longer distances looking for a spot to crash for the night. Just my .02 But you have been warned that the borders are NOT secure.

I know and that is fine, I figured the fine folks from the surronding states might come and that would be great.
Bubber Posted December 30, 2010 #10 Posted December 30, 2010 But you have been warned that the borders are NOT secure. JUST WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY HERE. FLYINFOOL :yikes: LMAO Bubber
bongobobny Posted December 30, 2010 #11 Posted December 30, 2010 You can never predict the attendance even if you post it on the calendar. Pretty much pitch it a couple of months in advance and give an agenda for the activity. If you are planning a ride plan it a good month in advance and make sure you run thru it a day or 2 before the event just in case of detours, etc. You can always pick up some inexpensive gifts, like deluxe candy bars, or key fobs or something to give out for prizes such as furthest away, first to come, nicest bike, etc. to entertain. Do as much of the food and seating prep before the event as possible. Other than that, just be friendly and enjoy yourself. If youy are having a good time, people will sense it and have a good time yourself. If you are uptight about something people will sense that as well and be on edge themselves...
