I know this was a big deal when I had my old '86 1st Gen, but some of our 2nd Gens are getting 10 + years of age on them. Are we seeing the same issues with the carb diaphragms on these bikes as we did the 1st Gens? If not, why?

Since the oldest 2ndGens are just now rolling past 10 years of age, it may be to soon to see much of a problem. Give it another ten years and I bet the same diaphragm problems will start cropping up.... :backinmyday:

I have not heard of any significant problems showing up with the diaphragms on any 2nd gens. I do work on a lot of them, and I haven't seen any problems, but I do not routinely pull out the diaphragms for inspection.

Well since everyone is always saying that the 2nd Gens are slower than the 1st Gens, they must also wear out slower too!!! I'd say according to that it'll be at least another 30 years before we start having problems with the carbs!!!:rasberry::rasberry::rasberry::rasberry:
