mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 #1 Posted December 27, 2010 Some of you know Muffin went to CA with his aunt to help her move. Well then he flew to NY to my folks house and I rode up to meet him for Christmas. No big deal, till we leave. Headed out today at 6:30 am and got home by 7 PM. No snow till we were off of 1 in DE, then nothing but snow all the way home. Couldn't see the road in spots, we'd finally see something that resembles a line on the road and get excited. (scary when you aren't sure where the road is and where the ditch is)We actually drove on 64 in VA at 20 mph and at times that felt too fast. Was a bit scary, but it also looks really pretty here. Everything is covered in snow all the trees my front door all white. Of course it will be melting because by saturday it's gonna be up near 60 for our annual meet. All in all it was a great weekend even with the little bump of snow. (ok not so much a bump) Hope you all had a great Christmas and hope you don't have too much snow for the folks on the east coast. That wind is gonna be awful. I did get some nice pics I'll have to post a little later. Margaret
Eck Posted December 27, 2010 #2 Posted December 27, 2010 Glad you made it home safe.. Merry Christmas to you both..!!!
IH Truck Guy Posted December 27, 2010 #3 Posted December 27, 2010 Glad you guys are home safe... Been watching the weather channel and it looks bad for the east coast... Real glad I'm parked till after the New Year..
Aussie Annie Posted December 27, 2010 #4 Posted December 27, 2010 Home in one piece MERRY CHRISTMAS Going to be 40C here today [27th] :scorched:
ADC Posted December 27, 2010 #5 Posted December 27, 2010 Well you sure picked a good day to drive home, glad you made it,you did have the 4wd didn't you?
Sling Posted December 27, 2010 #6 Posted December 27, 2010 Glad you guys had a good Christmas and a safe ride home. They say a major storm going thru N.Y. and Long Island now..
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #7 Posted December 27, 2010 Yeah we had the 4 WD thankfully. They didn't plow Snug Harbor Rd. but then they never do. We know all about the storm heading to NY we drove through it on it's way up. I think my whole family need to mover closer, to make it easier on me. I think we have about 8 " here and it's still snowing plus I know it started off as rain yesterday. I'll get some pretty pics posted tomorrow. I took some pics of the dismal swamp visitors center and state park. That was our last potty break. Margaret
Venturous Randy Posted December 27, 2010 #8 Posted December 27, 2010 Thanks Margret for the update. I was wondering how you were doing. I talked to Arthur and he told me yesterday he thought you were mostly just going to get rain, but it looks like you got more than that. We got about four inches here as most of it went south of us. RandyA
Yammer Dan Posted December 27, 2010 #9 Posted December 27, 2010 8" down there might be arecord!! Remember that 4-wheel goes a little better but will get you in trouble if you don't watch. Ought to try my driveway now!!!
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #10 Posted December 27, 2010 Ok here's a few pics from the trip home yesterday. The first few are from Chesapeake VA on Hwy 17 which comes through the dismal swamp. Then a couple from the rest stop in the dismal swamp. You can see part of the sign for the Park that's attached. The last ones are our yard. Since I've lived here I don't remember them getting this much snow here. I'm thinking it might take a little longer then normal for the snow to melt. Margaret
Monty Posted December 27, 2010 #11 Posted December 27, 2010 Picture #5 is just gorgeous. Glad y'all made it home safe.
Riderduke Posted December 27, 2010 #12 Posted December 27, 2010 Drove home from tidewater and I-64 was a mess. They were calling for lots of snow here but it never turned out. Just got a light dusting. Yorktown got 14" it was snowing thru richmond. then nothing the rest of the way. so far i think hertford NC has gotten more snow this year then up here near DC
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #13 Posted December 27, 2010 I think you just might be right David. Last year you had you're fair share and more of snow. Hope that means you don't see any this coming year. On the up side we'll be up to 60 on saturday. My yard is gonna be a swamp this weekend. Margaret
Riderduke Posted December 27, 2010 #14 Posted December 27, 2010 What does Smithfield NC look like. Is there anyone there that can report for this weekends M&E. i want to ride but if there is still snow and Ice then i may cage it.
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #15 Posted December 27, 2010 I don't know that they got any snow down there. I wouldn't worry since you'd be traveling down 95 and that's always clear especially by then. Plus the outlet mall takes care to get rid of the snow or no business. Not like our area, though 17 is kinda clear except where we have snow blowing off the fields. Our main road though is still bad to drive on. We're planning on riding the bike for the meet though. Margaret
Bubber Posted December 27, 2010 #16 Posted December 27, 2010 What are you whining about ? We have had snow like that since before ThanksGiving. We just sent a little your way so we could SHARE with you'all. LOL That how nice we are. Enjoy!
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #17 Posted December 27, 2010 The snow don't scare me it's the way these folks drive in it that scares me. Come on down and experience it for yourself. Oh the joy. Margaret
Bubber Posted December 27, 2010 #18 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) The snow don't scare me it's the way these folks drive in it that scares me. Come on down and experience it for yourself. Oh the joy. Margaret Like my dad used to say there are id-jutts every where. LOL I don't get why people think they could or should drive the regular speed limit in that stuff. It has always amazed me. But what the heck! Enjoy it while it lasts! We got more if you need it! Bubber Edited December 27, 2010 by Bubber spelling what else

Looks like a normal driving day here in MN.
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #20 Posted December 27, 2010 Hmmm. Not sure I understand the problem. Looks like a normal driving day here in MN. Yeah but we don't live in MN. :rotf::rotf::rotf: Margaret
Black Owl Posted December 27, 2010 #21 Posted December 27, 2010 Yeah but we don't live in MN. :rotf::rotf::rotf: Margaret And for that we offer our sincere condolances.
mini-muffin Posted December 27, 2010 Author #22 Posted December 27, 2010 But our pretty blue Venture Ranger did a fine job going through the lovely roads they have in VA. Surprisingly the roads in VA (major ones anyway) weren't too bad. See I got a venture ranger too. Margaret
eagleeye Posted December 27, 2010 #23 Posted December 27, 2010 I look out my window and see the same thing, I'm glad I could share. Enjoy it while you can, it probably won't last long there. Nice pics! Steve
