Squidley Posted November 11, 2007 #1 Posted November 11, 2007 I want to take a few minutes here and talk with everyone. This isn't something that needs an acknowledgement, but is something that needs to be said. The Moderators and myself pride ourselves on not having to do much "Censoring" of posts. For the most part all of you members here are VERY good at policing the site and yourselves. I know I speak for all of us when I tell you that we do appreciate that. There are times when some posts go south, for whatever reason. I'm asking from everyone of our members that we remember why we are here at this website. This is a motorcycle forum, and we do a good job of keeping it PG rated and not getting political. Please believe me when I say that I too have a hard time not commenting on some subjects. We all have our beliefs, and we are truly an international club, with many different beliefs and values. Now some of us are in the PMS (Parked Motorcyle Syndrome) portion of our ride season. We will be spending a lot more time on the site as there really isn't a lot that we do in the winter. There are going to be disagreements, we have MANY colorful personalities here, but I ask that we all keep it civil and not attack folks for their beliefs. If you come onto the site, and your angry or upset from a hard day at work. I ask that you dont post to a thread that may upset you. I do this many times myself as if I believe that I'm writing something that will lash out or further escalate a thread, I simply leave the site and come back when I'm calmed down...that sometimes takes a day for me This is an exceptional place, there isn't another forum quite like what we have here. I truly enjoy us being a family here, and appreciate the diversity that we have. So please, the PMS season is early and we certainly dont want folks not coming here because it's uncomfortable. If you need to vent on a subject, there are hundreds of other websites to go to that would be more suitable for it. From myself and all the moderators, thank you for being here. Our job is easy compared to some of the sites I have gone to....let us all be safe this PMS season
Midrsv Posted November 11, 2007 #2 Posted November 11, 2007 Well said! Sure glad I don't have to suffer as much PMS as you guys up north. DT
Freebird Posted November 11, 2007 #3 Posted November 11, 2007 Dang Squid Boy...you said that very well. I had been planning on making a similar post very soon but I couldn't have said it any better than you did. Thanks much.
SilvrT Posted November 11, 2007 #4 Posted November 11, 2007 Good post..we certainly need a "reminder" sometimes. It's sometimes difficult to take an unbiased approach to things you strongly believe or disbelieve in. One of the problems with what we type is exactly that, "what we type". Meaning that it is sometimes very difficult to read in a tone that it was intended due to our own feelings at the time, the writers inability to effectively articulate, and many other reasons. There is no "realness" to the typed words other than that which we conjure up in our minds, which can be adversely affected by our mood.

Yammer Dan Posted November 11, 2007 #6 Posted November 11, 2007 I think a lot of us might be a little guilty in this one. Bad day at work or whatever and we come on here and let it get into our comments a little. And it goes both ways. When not feeling up to normal some comments we tend to get upset about when usually we would laugh at. I have typed things, looked at them and not posted them after thinking a little. And might be guilty of posting a few that I shouldn't have. My job gives me a pretty thick skin but I also have a quick reply at times before I put brain in gear. But most of it we are just having fun and most of us know that and we keep explaining it to new people. That is a good one Squid. He just keeps proving he ain't just another pretty face he has a brain in there!!!
SilvrT Posted November 11, 2007 #7 Posted November 11, 2007 hey "T", would you translate that into english???? just jt Sorry, I was PMSing when I wrote that....

flb_78 Posted November 12, 2007 #21 Posted November 12, 2007 I've always tried to stay out of the political threads.....
royalstarjac Posted November 12, 2007 #23 Posted November 12, 2007 All join hands now: Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya. Kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya...
Marcarl Posted November 12, 2007 #24 Posted November 12, 2007 Oh man, Oh man, and it was just getting interesting, learned a lot and was ready to post again, now what am I gonna do, can't ride, can't smoke in the shop or the house. can't drink beer, can't shovel snow,,,,,,,,,I'm going to be totally bored, and all because of Squidley. NAH he got it right and is a great guy, but I bet it took him a while to post it right though, had to read and re-read and then ask Lonna to prove read it as well, Never mind, all good stuff. On the other hand, when I read the occasional thread that turns somewhat politcal, I am amazed at the good feelings going back and forth. Sure things are put strongly at times, but somehow I get the feeling that even though we may have disagreements when we post, we all respect each others' opinion and leave it at that, and that doesn't all come from the restictions of the site, but comes from the heart. Folks who want to be argumentative and disputative will mostly find that this will not likely happen here and go to do their thing elsewhere. But there are times that it's good for 'daddy' to step in as is the case with any family, so it's good to have those 'daddys' around. 'Course what's a good family without a good daddy.:thumbsup2:
Black Owl Posted November 12, 2007 #25 Posted November 12, 2007 it's good to have those 'daddys' around. 'Course what's a good family without a good daddy.:thumbsup2: First time I've heard anyone refer to Squidly as a Daddy. Most of the time he is simply called a "Mother.... " :rotfl: Sorry folks, just couldn't resist.............
