I have been thinking of going this year, any information would be helpful. Either tent camping or motel, wondering which would be best. Though of bring my camping gear but staying at a motel during the show. Thought maybe the rowdy's might make camping less fun. I would likely camp one night on the way up from Virginia and then after the show go on over into New England camping for a few days, Thoughts and comments appreciated

My wife and I stayed at a hotel in downtown Lake George two years ago, during Americade. The hotel was on the water, they had covered parking and it was only about $75-80 per night.

I enjoy camping but when camping prices come close to hotel prices, I'll choose the Hotel.

Just my 2 cents.

First off, a great Adventure. Most people reserve there places for years at a clip.

From Lake George south, about 6 miles. sometimes you'll get lucky and get a cancellation.

Most campgrounds are booked, even if you go into Vermont.

North of town, Its strange, they don't rent to riders. ( Their loss )

B&B's are top dollar, 215.00 to 325.00 a night, 4 to 5 nights minimum.

West of town , like up route 9 & 9N, there are places ( rustic)

Personally, I'm more of a motel person, but you may have trouble finding someplace this late... most places have very high min night stays (5 min...). Plus, as other's have mentioned, it isn't cheap. Last year I ended staying in Saratoga Springs in order to get a single night.

However, if you choose to camp, you may find this rally much more low key than others you may have attended. There is much less of a rowdy aspect as it is much more of a touring rally. You'll be amazed at the number of Wings and bikes pulling trailers. Very different atmosphere than Daytona or Laconia.

My wife has lost interest in Laconia at this point (~1.5 hrs from where we live) and prefers going to Americade (~4-5 hr ride) instead.

If you've never been, definately go, its a great rally.

Note that it starts on a Monday and ends on a Sat.

If you're up for a ride, you could start in Americade and head over to Laconia, NH which starts on the weekend Americade ends. Great ride from NY to NH.

Good luck with your decision.

I stayed in a tent at the state campground just up the road. Made a resv about a month or two in advance and there were a lot of sites to pick from. Picked one near the restrooms. $22 per night. Lots of nice people there. Will probably do it again this year.
