danjen Posted December 12, 2010 #1 Posted December 12, 2010 I'am looking at an RD 250. Has 5200 miles on it. I'am looking for an in town puddle jumper. Any thoughts on this bike, he wants $150.00 for it.
Freebird Posted December 12, 2010 #2 Posted December 12, 2010 I've never owned one but if it runs and you can get it for $150.00 with a title, I I would buy it in a heartbeat.
mbrood Posted December 12, 2010 #3 Posted December 12, 2010 RD 250 Pre-liquid cooling sports 250 with fine performance if in very good condition. High rates of engine wear can make this an unwise choice unless mileage is very low and standard very high. 247cc 2-stroke twin. 30hp, 330lb, 50mpg, 95mph. RD 250 LC Faster and more reliable water-cooled offspring of the old RD250. May seem irrelevant as the 350 is easily available, but still fun. Exhausts and carbs can give rise to problems, and be very careful to avoid raced examples. 247cc 2-stroke twin. 35hp, 310lb, 40mpg, 100mph.
1 Canuck Posted December 12, 2010 #4 Posted December 12, 2010 My brother had an RD250. Fun bike to ride around town; lightweight, easy to handle, a real ring-ding-ding-ding sound.
midnightventure Posted December 12, 2010 #5 Posted December 12, 2010 That was my first bike. Can't be this one though because I put 11000 miles on it in the year I owned it. Wrecked it 3 times too. Then went about 28 years before I had another one. Hope it's at least another 28 years before the next one. I got it up to 100 once on a real steep down hill and blew a hole ina piston. Cost about 35 dollars back then at the dealer to get it fixed.
