Godlover Posted December 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 2, 2010 I sold my trike and the guy picked it up today and left around 1:00pm. At 1:45pm some drunk drove through my garage right where my trike was sitting. I am storing an 09 Trike for a friend that has 500 miles on it and it took a hit. Check out my pictures! What a day!!! No one was hurt!
Trader Posted December 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 2, 2010 Wow...good thing you weren't working on that trike! It looks like just superficial damage...ding on rear fender, some scratches....any real damage to the trike? :mo money:
Freebird Posted December 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 2, 2010 Mess is an understatement. Glad nobody was hurt. Did the drunk have any insurance? I sure hope so.
Godlover Posted December 2, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted December 2, 2010 Wow...good thing you weren't working on that trike! It looks like just superficial damage...ding on rear fender, some scratches....any real damage to the trike? :mo money: The trike was hit on the side so not sure of frame damage. The couple who own it would like it totaled cause she's afraid of riding a prior damaged bike. He rode it out of the garage so I assume it can be fixed. We will see. I feel bad for them cause they worked so hard to get it.

Condor Posted December 2, 2010 Share #13 Posted December 2, 2010 Hope the insurance coverage pans out. Definately looks like your 2-story 'man cave' needs to be rebuilt completely. Glad no one was hurt, and your trike was out of there.
1joeranger Posted December 2, 2010 Share #14 Posted December 2, 2010 My ex wife got broken into once! She evidently was having a spat with her boyfriend who had gotten caught drilling the next door neighbor. She kept pestering him via the phone and he had threatened to break in if she did not stop. When she asked me for advice I told her to file a report. Why do women ask your advice only to ignore it? Cops told her that if she had of filed they could have done something but unfortunately it was her word against his. I could not really be angry with the guy. The only thing he had done was cut her phone cord into little tiny pieces!! But back to your story. the pictures reminded me of what she told the cops when they mentioned that he really trashed the place. She looked around a little confused, the house looking its normal cluttered, unkeep, disared, mess and then, light bulb going off in her head, replied "yep he sure did!!" Yep, Godlover, he really trashed your garage!!
bongobobny Posted December 2, 2010 Share #15 Posted December 2, 2010 Hopefully the guy now realizes that your garage is NOT a drive-thru beer store now! Interesting concept on how to park in a garage! Glad there was only property damage!!
kj5ix Posted December 2, 2010 Share #16 Posted December 2, 2010 Good Grief Mark: You are truly blessed that you had already left the garage... I hope the insurance will cover it all. RandyR Posted December 2, 2010 Share #17 Posted December 2, 2010 Mark, I'm glad no one was hurt. earlier this year the drunk could have got both of us and 2 RSVs in one swoop. hopefully he has enough insurance. And can I presume the driver with suspended license is now in jail?

Godlover Posted December 5, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted December 5, 2010 Talked to the adjuster today. The good news is his insurance will pay out even though he had a suspended license. The bad news is he only has 15000 in property damage which means our insurance company may have to make up the difference.
RandyR Posted December 5, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 5, 2010 hows your friend's trike? at least it looks like you're going to be covered maybe less your own homeowner's deductible. $15,000 doesn't go very far these days.
Condor Posted December 5, 2010 Share #24 Posted December 5, 2010 Hope you don't fall into the 'underinsured' trap. Ask Yammerdan about it. Basically your insurance company doesn't have to pay a thing since it wasn't your fault. The onus is on the other company. You may have uninsured coverage, but a lot of companies require a seperate rider for underinsured. Check with your company, you may only be half way there in coverage. Sometimes it would be better off if the guy didn't have any coverage at all....
mraf Posted December 5, 2010 Share #25 Posted December 5, 2010 Bummer, hope you come out on top when its all over. You've got the starting on a new door for that side of the garage if you need it.
