ragtop69gs Posted December 1, 2010 #2 Posted December 1, 2010 I'd do it. Those guy's make some great money when they go that high.
Yammer Dan Posted December 1, 2010 #3 Posted December 1, 2010 I have told the Warden I'd like to try that. I ran up & down telephone poles for bout 20 yrs but that looks a little different!!
RandyR Posted December 1, 2010 #4 Posted December 1, 2010 My dad was a broadcast engineer. He worked on towers a lot. I went up on one much shorter than the one in the video with him once. I don't think I'd care to do it for a living.
CaptainJoe Posted December 1, 2010 #5 Posted December 1, 2010 Not me... If I want to get that high I'll just go to the local airport and rent a cessna...
Venturous Randy Posted December 1, 2010 #7 Posted December 1, 2010 I guess I am a wuss as I had to quit watching it! RandyA
SMSgt Posted December 1, 2010 #8 Posted December 1, 2010 I'd do it.............. if I were 40 years younger. I'm a lot older and a lot wiser now and I realize that money isn't all that important.
thughes Posted December 1, 2010 #9 Posted December 1, 2010 I guess I am a wuss as I had to quit watching it! RandyA Me too! I'm terrified of heights. When they got to the point where he was free-climbing the last few feet I had to stop watching.
dray Posted December 1, 2010 #10 Posted December 1, 2010 I would had done it but sence there already up there they dont need me so ill stay home and wait on the Pizza delivery Girl
SC89Venture Posted December 1, 2010 #11 Posted December 1, 2010 Like I heard a man once say, "I aint skeered of heights, but I am skeered of depth's" lol. Neat video, no way I could do it. Can you imagine trying to come down?
Freebird Posted December 1, 2010 #12 Posted December 1, 2010 I've done it many times. Only to about 700 ft. but there was no elevator, it was climbing up a straight ladder all the way to the top. It never bothered me. The physical part of it would probably kill me now though.
kenw Posted December 1, 2010 #13 Posted December 1, 2010 No thanks, I'm retired from ATT and loving it!
wes0778 Posted December 1, 2010 #14 Posted December 1, 2010 Can you imagine trying to come down? I'm surprised they don't take parachutes up and just jump to get down.
Aimhigh Posted December 1, 2010 #15 Posted December 1, 2010 Not enough $$$ has been, or ever will be, printed for me to climb that thing!
ctraylor Posted December 1, 2010 #16 Posted December 1, 2010 I couldn't even watch it much less climb it.
TDunc Posted December 1, 2010 #17 Posted December 1, 2010 In my younger days I used to climb up to 100ft towers for my fellow hams. Now, much over my 6'3" frame and my knees get a little wiggly! I think back how many times I did some stupid stuff while on the towers. BTW...HECK NO....I WON'T GO... I sat in amazement watching this the first time a few months ago.
Panjandrum Posted December 2, 2010 #18 Posted December 2, 2010 Watched the video, feeling VERY uncomfortable. Read all the responses and my stomach is still churning. No way I would do that on a bet, on a dare or for any sum of money!
pickinfred Posted December 2, 2010 #19 Posted December 2, 2010 It's a warm 72 degrees while I watch the video, but 3 times while the camera was going from one side to the other of the tower, seemed like I setting on a block of "ICE":snow2: Money is a good thing to have, but not that good.
Drreb Posted December 2, 2010 #20 Posted December 2, 2010 Let me put it this way H*** NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't have a death wish!
Guest Ken8143 Posted December 2, 2010 #21 Posted December 2, 2010 Where is my breath? I want it back. The absolute worst part is the free climb part. I've done enough climbing to appreciate having the safety back up. Bottom line for me - no way!
sgn Posted December 2, 2010 #22 Posted December 2, 2010 Do they flip a coin to see who gets to go back and get the forgotten screwdriver ! A trip down a guy wire would make a wild "zipline" ride !
Freebird Posted December 2, 2010 #23 Posted December 2, 2010 At least he has an elevator up to the last 100 and something feet. Ours was only about 700 feet but no elevator at all. There were several times when I would get to the top, troubleshoot the situation and then have to go back down and then return with the parts that I needed. It was honestly a lot of fun when you got to the top though. You could see for miles around.
autopilot Posted December 2, 2010 #24 Posted December 2, 2010 I nearly blew chunks just watching that!
