GolfVenture Posted December 1, 2010 #1 Posted December 1, 2010 I would like to install a good volt meter on my 89 VR, for I understand the dash meter does not provide a reliable read. Is that correct? So I would appreciate some good suggestions as to what there is out there and where a good place to install it. And any other related suggestions?

Im selling one I bought new last spring but never mounted it. It will fit a 1st gen's dash perfectly. I think Snaggletooth has one on his 1st gen. GolfVenture Posted December 1, 2010 Author #3 Posted December 1, 2010 Thanks Ruffy, I took a look at it and I'll keep it in mind. I saw one with multi functions. http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/m/mutf_Gymdh1i2LLIrz81eEw/140.jpgSHOW CHROME MOTORCYCLE DIGITAL 5 FUNCTION VOLT METER f Was wondering if anyone in the group might have an opinion on it?
Snaggletooth Posted December 2, 2010 #4 Posted December 2, 2010 I used the digital voltmeter from here. http://www.digitalmeter.com/cgi-bin/webshop.cgi?config=ent-datel There is also this unit. If I was going to step up, I'd go with the Kisan charge guard for more features. And quality. https://kisantech.com/view_product.php?product=CG-10 The one I used is tough. Three seasons now of all weather riding with no issues and subzero temps in storage. Mike

I just didnt want to cut into the dash, but it would work great on a 1st gen dash panel.
Keemez Posted December 3, 2010 #6 Posted December 3, 2010 I had one of these on my Vulcan that I quite liked except for the smoked gauge face. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330472372679&viewitem=
