oldgoat Posted November 28, 2010 #1 Posted November 28, 2010 well i live about 70 yards from the tavern here. while pulling up i saw 2 police cars one putting a bike not a motorcycle in the trunk of there car. so i went up and asked hey what happened? they said well we just charged this man with dui. its one of them electric bikes. and he went up the back yard and did a nose dive in the bbq pit in the back yard of the tavern. its about a 3 ft drop they roast pigs in it durring the summer. i said you can charge him with driving under the influence. they said yep . it is a motorized bike???? i got to see how this pans out in court....
etcswjoe Posted November 28, 2010 #2 Posted November 28, 2010 Several places I have lived in you can be charged with DUI on a regular bicycle.
BuckShot Posted November 28, 2010 #3 Posted November 28, 2010 I know a bicyclist that got nailed going thru town for speeding. AND IT STUCK IN COURT. Apparently if you are on the road, you can not go over the speed limit. Of course he was doing 35 in a 25 zone. Cop must of had a bad fight with the wife or something to even pull him over.
Lone Eagle Posted November 28, 2010 #4 Posted November 28, 2010 A good LEO friend recently told me that one is EITHER a pedestrian, or a vehicle - and we were (at that moment) referring to bicycles. I can see that dui sticking on that individual whose mo-bike they put in the trunk.
oldgoat Posted November 28, 2010 Author #5 Posted November 28, 2010 im just betting he will try a law suit over the fact there was no fence around the pit? there still laughing there ass off down there. he came down the hill through the back yard and just went poof right in the pit i hope they post it on you tube from the security cammera. guess he wont stop there for a final beer from now on. thank god they didnt serve him. of course he never made it to the bar .. the second cop was laughing and trying hard to hold it in. how he missed the telephone pole the railroad track and land there is a puzzle to all at the bar.
mraf Posted November 28, 2010 #6 Posted November 28, 2010 Boy am I glad they got him off the street. I sure wouldn't want him running into my vehicle and hurting me. :rotfl: Please bring back the days of common sense. Dust him off, confiscate his offending vehicle and have a good laugh. But know it's cuff him and stuff him, fine the heck out of him, make life miserable with higher insurance premiums for ten years . Whats the gain, plenty for the state and ins..:mo money: Legal Prohibition. I can see it now "What you in for?" DWI on a buzzbike and illegal pit pass.
Yammer Dan Posted November 28, 2010 #7 Posted November 28, 2010 Guess I better quit taking the riding mower to the local watering hole!!!
BEER30 Posted November 28, 2010 #8 Posted November 28, 2010 I had a cop try to get me under the influence when I was riding horseback going home from a bar many years ago. Went to court and the judge threw it out because not only did I not have a saddle, but no reins as well when I was charged, therefore I had no control of the horse. I told the cop all along I was just a passenger, the horse knew it's way home and she wasn't drinking. Now if I was riding my Morgan at the time, he would have been drinking along with me. That Morgan was an expensive drinking partner, good thing that I did not ride him to the bar that much. BEER30
bongobobny Posted November 28, 2010 #9 Posted November 28, 2010 Nope! You can even get a DWI for riding a lawn mower while intoxicated!! Seems to happen more than once! Last summer they arrested a guy for that in NY. He was riding his lawn mower because they took his driver's licence away...
Scooter Bob Posted November 28, 2010 #10 Posted November 28, 2010 Guess I better quit taking the riding mower to the local watering hole!!! They can bust you for that in WI too.
