shikano53 Posted November 22, 2010 #1 Posted November 22, 2010 Hi, I changed out the stock bulb with a PIA Extreme White headlight bulb. It is considerably brighter than the stock bulb. Anyone else ever use a PIA bulb in their headlight? I'd be curious to know how you liked it or the difference in other bulbs some people have used. Thank you in advance.
Dave77459 Posted November 22, 2010 #2 Posted November 22, 2010 This Recent Post discusses PIAA headlamps tangentially. Dave
Evan Posted November 22, 2010 #4 Posted November 22, 2010 I got talked into PIAA for my 1st gen (88VR) by a reputable bike shop (Zdeno's in Kitchener). While I find the bulb to be an improvement, I was expecting more. Marcarl told me that he noticed improved visibility, but only on bright beam, which I now leave on all the time for that reason.
KiteSquid Posted November 22, 2010 #5 Posted November 22, 2010 I used a PIAA Intense White H4 bulb in my RSV and really liked it. IIRC it puts out 5000 K light which is more like daylight than the 4000 K light from the Xtreme White Plus bulbs. PIAA's H4 bulb page is HERE
shikano53 Posted November 24, 2010 Author #6 Posted November 24, 2010 Actually I personally think the PIAA bulbs are highly overrated. I had these ones left over and thought I would use. Anything is better than stock. I bought them for my 2006 HD Electra Glide. I had purchased Harleys version of a better bulb and was quite surprised after swapping out to the PIAA that it wasn't nearly as good or bright as the upgraged Harley bulb. Oh well, Live and learn.
cb1313 Posted November 24, 2010 #7 Posted November 24, 2010 I have Piaas in my 1992 GMC Typhoon for 15 years, never a problem, Plus my 92 Volvo, my Venture and Kaw, Versys. It's the first thing I change when I get a different ride. My Typhoon has 120,000 and I do not think I ever replaced the bulbs. It might be time to get a newer generation bulb. Cb
