Sailor Posted April 3, 2011 #27 Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) Went through the shipboard firefighting car firefighting and helicopter firefighting and rescue at our training institute. Also went through the Canadian Navy firefighting course. These were all required for my job on the ferries. Most of the volunteer firefighters here are ferry workers as they have the training. Sure do learn a lot. I was also first aid attendant for the ship. There were no medical facilities on the outer islands so anyone who got hurt simply went down to the dock and waited for the ferry to arrive. Had an ongoing battle with the company who insisted I was just there for the employees while I insisted my certificate stated I had to help anyone who needed it. We would usually do a couple of marine rescues each year as well. Edited April 3, 2011 by Sailor add information
