Ok , this is for you XM fans . I know some prefer Sirius , but I just broke down and subscribe to XM , as my Zumo is XM compatible . Went ahead also purchased the Garmin GXM 30 antenna , but still working on a cheaper alternative .

Being new , (like 6 hours new to me ) , trying to figure out the various bouquets of music . I'm a southern rock , C & W , Oldies , classic rock , adult comedy and some of the older long hair bands . What is your favorite channel that you listen too , other than talkshows and sports ? Right now I'm listening to channel 49 , Big Tracks . Having an insight as to what others listen too , may help out on saving time to listening to some undesired music . But then again , variety is the spice of life !

I also subscribe to the Online XM , which was also included in the subscription to listen to at work and home while on the puter .

And before you ask , I get pic's of where I mounted my antenna posted tomorrow . But to enlighten you , I have previously made a mount out of Kydex , which is moldable plastic like material . I heated a strip 2" x 5" wide with a heat gun , folded it onto my mirror mount like a table top . The fold wrapped around at the bend of the mirror arm so the kydex does not twist . Then used self sticking loop Velcro on the top . Then used the hook portion on the bottom of the XM antenna . I sometimes placed my radar detector there .

Hey, Gene, I love my XM

46 is pretty good classic rock

45 is XM Cafe, pretty good stuff that you don't often hear, from artists that you know.

..................I.E. Spingsteen covering a Ray Charles song, etc.

50 has a lot of good acoustic and live rock

110 & 113 Has some good classical. Nice to listen to someplace like the Blue Ridge Pkwy

220s are for traffic in different major cities

I tend to stay on 16 - country, 6 - 60's, 7-70's and occasionally check out CNN or FOX news.

I mounted my antenna with a RAM mount setup and it can be seen in this photo.

Did you pay call in and have them add the nav to your subscription so you get road conditions and weather reports ?

No , just the basic subscription made online . I stay out of the big cities that they cover and try to plan the drive through then during non-peak hours . Weather , I watch before hand or just look up into the sky .I'm not a fair weather rider either , so it doesn't really matter anyways to me . It was hard enough to go out and pay for radio in the first place . I'd rather buy more chrome and leather . But BEER24/7 mentioned I listen to the same songs on the MP3 player over and over , LOL !

I primarily listen to 6 - 60's and 7 - 70's. Though on Weds mornings I love catching 40 at 7AM (my time) for Bob Dylan's hour. Other than that, I'll catch 10 or 16 - or maybe even the Broadway Tunes channel. :080402gudl_prv:

I've had XM for 3 years, won't give it up. I mostly listen to 202, but big tracks, top tracks, deep tracks, and all of the comedy channels are in my favorites list. X-country is a good one too.

Willies Place - 13 I think and 14 BlueGrass. I also like 34 the Southern Gospel channel and the decades 6 - 8 mentioned above. I really like mine. We took it on vacation and really enjoyed the variety.

I got XM because of the MLB package 3 years ago. I have an old Roadie II. My A presets are

1 - US Country 17

2 - Highway 16 (country)

3 - XM Comedy 150

4 - Deep Tracks 40

5 - Top Tracks 46

6 - 60's 6

7 - 70's 7

8 - Real Jazz 70

9 - MLB 175

10 - CNN 122

My B and C presets are all full too but these are my most frequent channels. I am going to get a new receiver this year as this thing has seen better days. What mounts easily to the VR and is portable to move to the cage?

I'm thinking about getting a Pioneer Inno. I have XM in my truck but not on my bike or the wife's car. Figure I can move it over if needed.

It wont matter soon. The merger of Sirius and XM are in front of the FCC right now and Im watching it in a daily basis. I bought some stock and if they merge they will both jump quite a bit. They seem to have the support they need. They say it wont affect the rates and if anything they may come down as they will merge the best of both networks and save lots in repetative stations plus give the sports they offer a larger market. Xm has MLB and NHL right now and Sirius has Nascar, NFL and NBA. All those will more than double the market. It wont be a monoploy as both networks compete against terestrial radio and internet radio, not to mention Ipods and recorded media. I prefer Sirius but am really looking forward to the merger. Actually Sirius is listed as purchasing XM.

Well I'm eating my words ! I was asked about XM-WX (weather) and I made my reply , well today I signed up for the xm weather out of curiosity . I was a bit surprised as on another posts someone claimed it cost $30.00 a month . Well it didn't , $9.95 per month . Being I just activated my xm radio subscription , they waived the xm-weather activation , made it the primary and placed me on the family plan which dropped my radio rates to $6.95 . Of course they included tax , but still under $18.00 per month . It has the multiple day forecast and satellite , temp and all the other stuff you see on the tube . I will be putting to the test as I am out the door around 3:00 am in the mourning unto a some what 2,000 mile road trip .

All this XM talk and nobody has mentioned Flight 26. Now I'm no youngster and it may be a result of having 4 children in their late teens and early 20s, but I find that the adult pop/rock selections are pretty decent. No hip/hop, but not traditional easy listening either; just a good blend of contemporary pop/rock music. Give it try . . . . or not. When it's not 26, it is 49.

You will actually get weather alerts if there is any severe weather in the area

or on your planned route. The traffic is great also as you approach a major city you can see if there is any construction/accidents in the way and get re-routed around it.

Things you can't see till you get there will be on the Zumo before you get there.
