armyvet Posted November 9, 2010 #1 Posted November 9, 2010 Can anyone advise?? I've been thinking of buying the yamaha helmet headsets but need a question answered first. When the headset is plugged in does the music from the radio play through the headset or the the bike speakers? Thanks
Monty Posted November 9, 2010 #2 Posted November 9, 2010 It depends on if you've got it selected for SP or HS on the handlebar control. I usually keep my comms in the headset, and the music thru the speakers. We use the J&M Elite headsets.
armyvet Posted November 9, 2010 Author #3 Posted November 9, 2010 Thanks for the quick response I was hoping that I would be able to do that. I would also like music through the speakers and comms through the headset.
aharbi Posted November 9, 2010 #4 Posted November 9, 2010 As good but much less expensive than OEM http://www.sierra-mc.com/default.asp
davecb Posted November 9, 2010 #5 Posted November 9, 2010 Uuummm...didn't your bike come with a manual?? I think thats why they make them for cars and motorcycles...So you know how to operate it... Good luck with headsets...The more you pay for them, the better they will sound...
armyvet Posted November 10, 2010 Author #6 Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks for the link Art..I'll check it out.
Gary N. Posted November 11, 2010 #7 Posted November 11, 2010 I didn't have very good luck with the cheap J&M headsets like the ones that Yamaha sells. Sierra Electronics had them for less then $75 but every set I've had usually ends up having problems with the patch cord. On the advise of my good friend Tom I just bought two sets of the J&M Elite 584 from Sierra Electronics.

uechi kid Posted November 11, 2010 #9 Posted November 11, 2010 I've been using the J&M Elites and really like them. A little pricey but you do get what you pay for.

Maybe he didn't get a owners manual when he got the bike, who knows... It was a simple question.
