uechi kid Posted November 7, 2010 #1 Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) I split the fairing yesterday for the first time to install Mic Mutes. When I went to remove the windshield I found three of the six tabs on the outer fairing were broken. Does anyone have a fix for that? Edited November 13, 2010 by uechi kid
bongobobny Posted November 7, 2010 #2 Posted November 7, 2010 On a 2008? Yes we do, take it back to the dealer and get a new fairing under warranty!! Unless you dumped the bike, it is a poor dealer installation of the windshield and should, and will be replaced by a reputaqble dealer!!
uechi kid Posted November 7, 2010 Author #3 Posted November 7, 2010 They'll really cover that under warranty? WOW! The bad part for me is the closest dealer is now about 40 miles away. The one that I bought the bike from, and the only ones that have split the fairing are out of business.

ediddy Posted November 7, 2010 #5 Posted November 7, 2010 Yamah will replace it under warranty. They did for me.
BIG TOM Posted November 8, 2010 #6 Posted November 8, 2010 And me also, but it did take 6 weeks to get a new one..........

The dealer I bought the bike from had a bad reputation for service but I went there because the were close. I'm sure the one I will be going to is aware of how bad they were.
uechi kid Posted November 8, 2010 Author #8 Posted November 8, 2010 And me also, but it did take 6 weeks to get a new one.......... Just as long as they don't need the bike for that whole time.
BIG TOM Posted November 8, 2010 #9 Posted November 8, 2010 Just as long as they don't need the bike for that whole time. Nope, They don't need your bike....
uechi kid Posted November 8, 2010 Author #10 Posted November 8, 2010 Well I guess I'll be giving Berkly Yamaha a call on Tuesday (they're closed Mondays) and see what they say. Lone Eagle has dealt with them and says they go out of there way for their customers. I hope that's true. I'll keep you posted. Rich
uechi kid Posted November 12, 2010 Author #11 Posted November 12, 2010 (edited) Yesterday I took the bike to Berkeley Yamaha to see what they thought might be able to be done about this problem. They called me back this morning to tell me Yamaha is going to take care of it, replace the outer half of the fairing. Thank everyone for pointing me in that direction. I might not have thought about the warranty if you hadn't suggested it. :) :) Edited November 12, 2010 by uechi kid
