dynodon Posted November 3, 2010 #26 Posted November 3, 2010 I use Collinite 915 carnauba, tests as well as anything in every test it is included in. Goes on and comes off as easy as about any wax around. Only one step, vs several with Zaino. Zaino makes a good product but it is more expensive per use and more work per use than anything on the market. As for clay, it is probably the best NEW product for car care in the past 50 years. All top waxes pretty much do the same thing, but clay really works. BUT...and here is what everyone needs to know about clay. Not every car/bike/painted surface needs or will benefit from it. Clay removes things like metal embedded in the paint (rail dust, it is real) or paint overspray (some, it won't remove all overspray, mainly the dry type). If you feel your paint finish and it feels even a tiny bit like sandpaper....THAT is what clay is for, removing that roughness. If your paint is smooth, then forget the clay, you don't need it. As for clay on black cars/bikes, again, if the paint is smooth, you don't need it. Clay CAN and does put in very minor scratches as you use it that is why you must follow clay with a very fine polish or glaze. Nothing totally hides scratches without removing them, otherwise, I would never need to get any new eyeglasses, I would just use my magic "wax" to get rid of the scratches, and I have tried everything and none of them remove the scratches. So be careful about using clay, it works wonders for what it is intended for, that roughness, but if you don't need it it does nothing for the finish. Even for those surfaces with some roughness, after using clay it won't be any shinier, it will just be smoother, you need the glaze or polish to make it shine, and use wax ONLY to protect the paint from acids/wear/oxidation.
Michael_Bishop Posted November 3, 2010 #27 Posted November 3, 2010 I like Turtle Wax Ice. If there is any ruber close to where youe waxing and get some on it. It will wipe off and not leave a white stuff. It might make the ruber shine.
cb1313 Posted November 4, 2010 Author #28 Posted November 4, 2010 I used T/W gel car wax/gel. Very easy to use, no white wax lines and cleaned up really nice.......THEN for the first time in years when putting in gas I over filled and spilled gas all over the tank. Washed the bike and gelled again. Cb
